Jamiekip
Hi everyone, Does anyone know how to convert the xenon headlights on a '07 S3? Manual says go to a dealer, not a single dealer is able to accomodate me (have tried since last weekend and i'm now on concellation lists.... a bit sad really! I've had a look behind the covers, and there is no 'lever' or anything to flatten the light spread (read in other posts). Does it need to be done via a computer? I'm travelling next week so need to get it sorted before then. Help appreciated!!! JK
kite
I brought beam benders for my A4 from Audi, they were specific for xenons
Jamiekip
Interesting! They made no mention of that, just that I'd ahve to pay to ahev them converted. As I'm driving back in the night and well get back in the UK at night too, I've simply elected for the £7 stick on things from Halfords. They are ok for xenons and easy to remove. Cheaper than getting it done at Audi!!! Thanks for the info though - could be wirth investigating for the future. JK

h5djr
My dealer did mine for free last year, but this year wants to charge £50 for each change. I have just purchased a copy of VAG-COM so hopefully I will be able to do it myself - sitting on the shuttle!!
Jamiekip
Just had a call back from Audi Customer Services on this, and they outine that charges are the dealers choice. They do insist that it should be done by a qualified technicial (but they would wouldn't they!)
kite
I think the main concern is putting your hand down the back of a xenon

It all has to be done by connecting it to the dealers VAS 5051B computer system or a copy of VAG-COM and it would be quite easy to get the coding confused and stop some other components from working correctly. SINCPS1
hi i had the same problem a couple of years ago when i went to sweden in the end i bought the stick on beam benders from halfords they cost about 8 quid followed the instuctions for xenons and they did the trick nobody flashed me or and hassle at night or hassle from the cops the dealers wanted somthing like 100 quid to change them one way and the same to put them back the robbers
h5djr
By all account the correct charge for a dealer to do it is half an hours labour to change and half an hour to change them back. Should be around £100 in total. Having said that it's much more convenient to do it yourself using VAG-COM and if your take the car to European a couple of times it costs less as well. My total for purchase of the necessary VAG-COM cable was £195.25 (129.00 + 42.45 delivery + 23.80 VAT and service charge from FedEx). I shall probably do mine when I'm sitting in the car going through the Channel Tunnel!
