N3WOB
Assuming that the imola yellow and solar orange are to be barge poled when it comes to second hand demand, what's the best and worst of the rest?
S3ENVY
Ibis White - Shows off the car's lines the best, bit iffy on resale as you'll either love it or hate it. Sprint Blue - Suits the car really well and makes it look like a proper 'S' car. Not my cup of tea though. Ice Silver - Also shows off the cars lines very well and is a 'standard' colour which is timeless. Is often called boring and the safe choice, however mine is silver and I love it. Good resale. Phantom Black - Hides the lines of the car a little IMHO, however does look very stealthy and sets off the silver mirrors well. Will always be good on resale too. I don't really care for the other colours much, however Brilliant Red looks pretty naughty! It's all a matter of personal preference at the end of the day and there are plenty of people who will argue what colour looks best. For me, Ibis white or Sprint blue look the coolest but that doesn't account for much as I'm driving an Ice silver S3 which ticks all my boxes. N3WOB
Is the black metallic and is it a hard paint (if you know what I mean). The grey looks good too - likely to fair well on resale?
S3ENVY
Yes, the black is Phantom Black Metallic and is a very nice colour! I'm not too sure about whether or not it is a 'hard' paint. VAG group paints are generally noted for being pretty tough, however you would have to ask some who's better in the know. Im' sure someone who owns a black S3 will be along soon. The Dolphin Grey is a nice colour and used to be my favourite colour on the 8L S3, however on the new one I don't really like it. Should do well come resale however. PetrolDave
I saw a Sprint Blue S3 on Friday morning at the Bitterne Brewery roundabout in Southampton - looked good and sounded good as it went down Townhill Way. But I still think Phantom Black is the best colour (I was the Phantom Black RS4 Avant if you were driving the S3).
ChrisT
Mine's sprint blue so I'm probably a little biast, as mentioned above I think it suits the car very well. It was also a popular choice at the dealers. On the 1st of March when I picked mine up a silver car also went out too.

sbgwz
whats wrong with solar orange i think it looks awesome, a set of black wheels would really set it off
shao_khan
I think its a shame if you go into the car buying process wondering about whats best for resale - its not a good viewpoint - before you know it you are moving on and looking for your 60th vehicle...... I think Yellow and Orange look very good on the car. Grey / black / silver are all very safe - I guess this is why the option list for staff cars is limited to these pretty much and will help with resale. But they dont stand out much, and do (having owned one) blend in a bit too much for my liking.
Oli
White for me!
prt57
I have a red one and it looks really smart. The red, black and silver bits go together very well. More than happy!! I feel the grey ones and black ones look a bit dowdy, especially when a bit dirty. prt
PaulAr
Agree black looks dead ordinary unless its just been washed and then it looks fantastic. Ive just bought a used car in Sprint Blue and its the number one colour for me, real head turner and give the car a proper at a glance `S` identity, and cant be mistaken for any other model. Apart from the the wacky orange and yellow options I think all of the colours look good IMO. Cheers Paul
