Mini Clubman

Mum needs a car to take her and the ladies for walks (boarder terrier + ?)

I narrowed it down to 2 cars. the golf gti and clubman/S

The clubman got the vote today, possibly the S but maybe a little silly as its just a dog carrier!

Couple of questions:

Whats the ideal sepc to have on these?

Is the S worth the extra couple of k?

Any advice appreciated.

Clubman!

That is 1 ugly awkward looking spud of a car. I've only seen 3.

Seeing as it is a poor seller, not sure about it's re-sale value.

Even that silly Ford Fusion thing would be a better bet. Easier to get in and out of too.

The clubman has doubled mini's sales so not sure about resale value. We've got a clubman diesel for a couple of days next week while the missus cooper has some work done. Not for us for sure but will be funny to drive it and see the reactions. One thing i can comment on is that the diesel engine is superb, could not believe how good the cooper d we were given a couple of weeks back was. Completely changed my thoughts on diesel. I'm even considering one with the works kit and all the bits and bobs to replace the gti in a couple of years when its too expensive to drive SAUER0421.GIFbloody labour mad.gifmad.gifmad.gif

£20 a year tax, low insurance and 72mpg all sounds good to me beerchug.gif

Dude - you normally talk a lot of sence - you narrowed it down to the clubman and Golf GTi - did you have a 3 car list? Is that the best you could do?

Both those cars would pretty much put you in a freelander / Tiguan / Q5 - at least if the ladies want to get muddy it doesnt matter so much.

WHat about BMW 1 series - just as good looking as the mini clubman as both are fugly.

Fiat 500 - more unique than clubman, better looking.

Jeep Wrangler - more environmentally friendly that the VW or Mini.

Vx Meriva VXr.....

Not good at these sorts of cars. She likes the look of the clubman and in the right colours I think it can look quite quirkey.

The rear doors give excellent acess for small dog, and offers a window not to high so they can look out the windows. the rear seats wont be used.

A fiat 500 is another nice idea. How big is the boot? That is all that matters with this car. Cool and boot.

Personally think the clubman looks shocking and the fact it has the rear door on the wrong side for driving on the left only makes matters worse. However I can see why it would fit your criteria as a dog transporter.

I'd look at a 3rd 1 series if it was me though, better looking though not exactly a stunner and with good access to the boot it might just fit the bill instead of the mutt clubman. Flush.gif

Of hows about a Merc A or B class... plenty of room in one of those. smile.gif

I have just actually come back from a dog walk with her.

we discussed the clubman and i ran through all your thoughts on this board.

She likes it, thinks its individual and a bit quirkey.

I think she will go for a S version in 2 tone sparkling silver and black with stripes. Delivery is only 6 weeks.

Doubled sales?

Streuth, that's a sad fact - if true.
