AvantSE
Our little lad is ill at the moment, hasn't eaten for 4 days and seems very weak and not moving very much. Been to docs and they reckon he has some kind of ear infection, though I don't see why that would've caused loads of vomiting etc. He's 16 months and we are very worried it might be something serious. Is there something going round at the moment that loads of children are picking up? Wifey is taking him back to the docs tomorrow as things are still not improving. Sponge
My 2 year old caught some sort of bug last week. It came out of the blue. For about 36 hours he was vomitting severely, not able to keep food down (he was eating though). Apparently there was something going around at the time, but we hadn't been out much (mixing with other kids) as we were busy with our new arrival, #2 child. I'd be concerned if my child hadn't been eating and was vomitting for 4 days too. Can he hold down fluids? I dare say the Dr said make sure he drinks. The main thing is you've been to the Doctor and you're going back. Other than that, not sure what to suggest. Best wishes.
AvantSE
Thanks, he has only just managed to hold down fluids today and seems to be sleeping all the time and hardly moving - the opposite to his normal self. Will see what the Quack says tomorrow
shao_khan
Our School has had a stomache bug been going around it which fits pretty much the symptoms you are describing - lethargic, vommiting, not eating, etc, etc. Our youngest got it but the eldest luckily missed it - thsi was 14 days ago we got it. Over it now.
cruiser647
Our youngest has recently spewed up twice. But that was all. We stopped giving her milk and milk products for a few days. She was fine after that. But she did not seem to bothered about spewing either. No crying or whinging. Still slept and was completely fine with herself. good luck at the docs! AvantSE
Today is day 5 of not eating; he has had the odd tiny bit of toast or bread, but that's it. Managing to get a few fluids in but he is still floppy and not moving about much. Very pale. Wife reports that (sorry to be disgusting) the nappy poo is like Korma but seems to have little lumps in it that appear to be covered in what look like veins. These lumps can be easily squished. Wondering what the hell these are, and can verify the vein-like appearance. Anyway, been to doc's again tonight and picked up a sample bottle and have sorted a sample to be sent off tomorrow; I just hope the results come back soon as he is losing loads of weight and is getting to the point where his bones are easily felt, his thighs seem to have got very very thin within the last few days. Needless to say we are very worried but doctor seems very laid back about the whole thing.

I'm no doctor, but I guess if he's keeping fluids down he should be OK or at least stable. Hope it works out OK.

AvantSE
Quick and slightly gross update... I won't go into detail, but it seems the nappy contains (in amongst the korma) a number of worm-like strands, which we previously thought were veins around the solid bits. At least we might've found the cause.
Sponge
Oh dear. Continuing the gross-ness - have you kept the nappy to show someone? Edit: Or maybe just take a picture
AvantSE
No, I had the dubious pleasure of bottling his finest output and am about to drop it off at the surgery this morning. He seems a bit brighter but is very, very thin.
cruiser647
I hope you get those results real quick and the required medicine in him!
AvantSE
Just a quick update, and thanks to those who posted. Callum is now pretty much back to normal, he started eating a bit about a week after he stopped eating and gradually he is building himself back up again. He can now walk about as normal whereas he could barely sit up by himself before. It is so good to see him back to his mischievous old tricks and a great relief. AvantSE
Cheers, being new to this parenting malarkey can be a bit stressful at times but you "old hands" will know that already ! STILL waiting for test results to come back... bit late now.

Rustynuts
Our young lass (4 at the time) was taken ill about 7 years ago, and was being sick and had severe wildsh!ites every half hour or so. Took her to the docs armed with various samples of bodily fluid (not funny at all) and test results came back 2 weeks later. Doc calls and says "Salmonella poisoning, better bring her in straight away!" Wifey says "Oh she's better now. Good job it wasn't serious eh?"
