96 D2 -- Door contact for footwell lights?

Hi All,

Easy question for most, but I'm damned if I can find it.... strking plate or door contact which controls footwell lights and lights on buzzer? Courtesy lights always work, the others and buzzer only intermittently. Thanks.

Guess the answer's not as simple as I thought. Within the door lock itself perhaps??

I'm afraid I don't have the answer but I would be surprised if there is more than one contact per door. I would have thought it more likely that the problem lies elsewhere.

I don't think there are any; it uses the central locking control module so must use the locking/handle mechanism. If this is the case it proly needs a clean for a better electrical contract some where.

Thanks. SO if it's in the handle mechanism, how's the best way to gain access -- door card off, and waht are my chances at a quick DIY fix?

the door is made up of two main sections; the shell and the sub frame. However if you remove the subframe you'll need to adjust it when refitting with the correct tolerence fir the gaps etc. it's a two man job.

TBH its a mare of a job and this is what stopped me from tinting the windows on my car

Try cleaning the latch mechanism with some WD40 (at least what you can see of it) perhaps that may yield some results.
