Mook
130 to 185 is probably a bit of an exaggeration!

Cupramax
Rolling road figures are a lottery at the best of times, results are entirely down to the conditions on the day and the operator. 185 from the 130 tdi is right on the limit of what its capable of in standard form. It wont last very long running that power... your choice at the end of the day. I'd be happy seeing 160 from that motor and a nice flat torque curve that hangs on well rather than a high peak power figure.
Chiptek
[ QUOTE ] mook 185 is bang on i have spoken to people who have been on the rolling road. chiptek why is it not recomended? [/ QUOTE ] I ran an 04 plate 130 Passat for 3 years, the clutches and flywheels are not very strong, and unless it has sports suspension they dont cope very well with extra torque either. I found that the optimum setting for my car were around 170 bhp, a lot of work was needed to get the power delivery nice and smooth as the small turbo usually explodes at 1500 rpm and dies at just over 3000 rpm, but when done right the results were very good. However, this was my personal preference, everybody is different and have different driving styles. High numbers dont always mean better performance, a car set up correctly will have more traction and control, than say a car that has more power in all the wrong places. The most important aspect of tuning is engine longevity, whats the point of having loads of power if it could dammage vehicle. Finally, i have never dealt with the guys at Celtic tuning, but i have read lots of good reviews from happy customers. So they must know what they are doing. wcs_80
Sensible figures on torque are a max of 300lbs/ft unless you are planning to uprate the clutch, in which case 315 - 320lbs/ft can be achieved. 170bhp is about the norm. 2 chaps with 130PD's from the seatcupra forum running the P-Torque stage 1 software made 179 and 186bhp on different Dynos, with 296lbs/ft torque. (I think the 186bhp fitted an FMIC though) You wouldn't want to go this high with the torque on the Passat though due to the extra weight/load on clutch
Gunnar
Don't shop hp/money style. Go for a company that is not known for broken clutchesm turbos etc. Find people that have a lot of miles on their remap, even though it may be less hp's on paper. There is a lot of companies that overexagerate figures, some even manipulate the dyno so it gives different readings.
