So eight games left now - do you need to win four of those? A win every other game is a big ask in your kind of form. Hope its not too late as there are much worse teams than Newcastle to go down. Fingers crossed for you - a scare with relegation might get you a decent manager next term 169144-ok.gif

Newcastle need more than a decent manager to get sorted. A wholesale change in attitude & personnel (playing staff and others), along with a revision of short to medium term expectations might be nearer the mark.

Allardyce was a decent manager and he couldn't (and/or wasn't given the chance to) turn things around so I suspect there are few others who could do any better & most, if not all, of them wouldn't go to the Toon in it's current state.

Couldn't agree more 169144-ok.gif

Sam should have been given at least 18 months. However, if the players can't see (or are unwilling to see) the benefits of the different approach then I don't suppose the timescales would have made that much of a difference.

I think the problem with Newcastle (in part) is that the pressure is on to achieve instantaneous results and IMO that rarely happens and when it does, it's often to the detriment of the longer term. Still, I suppose in today's football world, the now is all that really matters ROLLEY~14.GIF.

It's interesting to see how Bolton have regressed since Allardyce left - football isn't any better and the fitness levels seem to have gone backwards (looked dreadful against 10 man Wigan on Sunday - much to my own joy grin.gif)

The 'on paper' point is a very interesting & prevalent one. Perhaps Newcastle's biggest problem is that they often chase 'name' players rather than good ones/ones for the future and those names tend to be those who don't give up much for the cause, who can't funtcion as part of a team and/or who may well be past it.

The end result is a fractured team and a large bag of money being sent down the swanny. Michael Owen would be a case in point, as would fat lad Viduka, Keiron Dyer etc.
