gizze
Nice, was that from the Apple site?
drpellypo
Aye. DUnno why, but I always tend to get apple stuff direct from them. Just feels nicer!

drpellypo
The only reason I managed to convince MrsP that I 'needed' a macbook pro was the proviso I gave the macbook to her. I'll have a Dell Insipron for sale though!
Mac
But I don't want a Dell Insipid I misunderstood. I assume you bought a Macbook, have now ordered a Pro, and are giving the MacBook to the Mrs? I also want to change my Macbook for a Pro and also get an Air for travelling
drpellypo
Yes, indeed Mac, that's what I am doing. The Dell is hers, so we'll be replacing her dell with my macbook, and I'm getting the pro. The main reason I'm upgrading is the screen on the mac is tosh! I could do with a bit more space too. Mac
I have a 30" screen on my desk at work and a 24" at home, so the 'normal' screen doesn't bother me that much. The issue I have is that I'm at Microsoft in Reading every other day and it's embarrassing having a glaring white Mac I think the MBP feels significantly faster too Let me know about the Insipid by the way, I know someone who needs a consumer laptop
drpellypo
Oooh - get you! Re the Dell, it's an Inspiron 1501. It was bought just before xmas iirc. It's never been taken outside the house and has only been used for about 30 mins a day max. I think we paid about £350 (probably more by the time you add on Dell's £60 postage!) I'll take £270 posted. My pro should be arriving on the 28th March, so it will be available then.
Rachel
[ QUOTE ] The issue I have is that I'm at Microsoft in Reading every other day and it's embarrassing having a glaring white Mac [/ QUOTE ] Ummm, I think I get a worse reaction from the Microsoftians with my 17" MacBook Pro. They actually flinch when they see it. The leave the room when I power it up - the classic musical chord (or "bong") is like a crucifix and holy water to a vampyre... [ QUOTE ] I think the MBP feels significantly faster too [/ QUOTE ] Again - not really, unless you max the RAM and put in a 7200rpm HDD. My new MacBook (black) runs my Vista VM as fast (faster?) than my 17" which is only 4-5 months old. The 17" has the high-def display (1920x1200), 7200rpm HDD and 4GB RAM. The bMB had a 5400rpm HDD, and 4GB RAM. The difference is the processor and caching I think. The Penryn 2.4GHz C2D in the bMB is faster than the 2.4GHz Merom C2D in the MBP. Thorburn
[ QUOTE ] My MBP has the Penryn o_O [/ QUOTE ] Yep, 15.4" MBP gets the Core 2 Duo T8300, so the 3MiB L2 cache derivative of the Penryn processor, same as the MacBook.
