Riz
Knew it was coming but not this soon. [ QUOTE ] The Blu-ray 2.0 spec (or BD-Live) is just days from launch. Sony just announced that the next PlayStation3 firmware updated -- v2.20 -- will add the new interactive features to your PS3. As such, PS3 owners should expect downloadable video content, ringtones, interactive movie-based games, and the always intriguing "more" when the software is released in "late March." In other words, in the next 11 days. The update will also allow you to copy photos and music playlists over USB from your PS3 to your PSP. The rest of the new features after the break. -- "Resume play" will enable PS3 system to start playing a Blu-ray disc and DVD at the point it was stopped, even if the disc had been removed.(*1) -- "Audio Output Device" will be a new Remote Play setting, enabling PSP to serve as a remote control for music played through PS3. -- PS3 system's Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser's view speed will be improved. -- DivX and WMV format videos that are larger than 2GB will be playable. -- "Mosquito Noise Reduction" will be added as an AV setting in the control panel of the DVD/BD player for improved movie playback.(*2) *1 BD-J format disc is not supported. *2 BD discs recorded with BDMV format are not supported. Is this something totally different? [/ QUOTE ]The one you probably got the otherday would be 2.17 which was a minor update for stability etc of certain games and PS2 stuff.... nothing noticable really. This update is supposed to be a biggy but unsure what else Sony will put into it. Riz
S3ENVY
Is it wrong that I actually get excited about the PS3 system updates? I have to say that I'm well chuffed with Sony and my PS3 of late. They really seem to be making an effort with the consumer and I never in a million years thought that Sony would allow their machine to be so 'tinkerable'. It's really begining to make the 360 look dated and when GT5 & GTA come out it's all gonna be over. Thanks for the update Riz! Can always rely on you for up to the minute PS3 goss. Riz
I must admit I didnt think Sony would recover too well from the initial slow sales of the PlayStaion3 and poor games.... there is still alot of work for Sony to do but its slowly turing for the better, 2008 is going to be a good year for PlayStaion3 I think. A few more important features which I would like are as follows :- Support for DTS-HD Audio Support for in game XMB Support for Multi-region DVD playback Im one of the very first wave of people who bought at release for £425.00 And to be honest I dont feel I was ripped off or anything, just the price I paid for a eary adopter. I use it alot to play my dvd movies and music, its a true multimedia tool for me and im looking to buy PlayTV once its available along with a 500gb Hdd. GT5 Prologue.... cant wait!! I was pretty much addicted when we all used to play that freebie PC racing online....can't remember the name of it though.

I think im going to start practicing on my GT demo..... once Sony release the patch for GT5 Prologue which allows you to have private game sessions that would be ideal for a big TSN race.... depending on the game setting we could have long races.... lots of laps with pits..... like a proper championship eh? I dread to think what's going to happen to my social life whem Prologue is released, although I imagine that all of my friends will be on there constantly anyway! Sparky
Yes, or you can download the firmware from the PS website, onto a memory stick and then plug the memory stick (or USB drive) into your PS3 and then go to System Update. It'll find the file and update for you.
