jaysem
Hi everyone, I'm quite new to the forums and am desperate for some help. I wondered if anyone could help me with obtaining the software update 0650 which I believe is included with the 2008 dvd map. I just want to be able to use the TMC function. I currently run the 2005_2 dvd which is fine for me. my current software code is 0360 and hardware is H53. A great forum and I hope to contribute in the future. Steve. PetrolDave
The maps on the 2005_2 are pretty out of date, you would be best getting a 2008 RSN-E (not MMI) DVD off eBay so that you get SW 0650 and new maps.
jaysem
Hi PetrolDave thanks for the reply but truth is I cant afford to at the mo (funds going on a remap next month) as they seem to go pretty much close to the dealers prices and I dont want to buy one from outer mongolia or some such place if you get what I mean. craigyb
Just putting in the 650 firmware will not enable TMC, you need the disk as well as the firmware. TMC is available on older disks from 2007... 8P0 919 884 M (2007 january firmware 550) 8P0 919 884 R (2007 june firmware 600) 8P0 919 884 AA (2008 January firmware 650) All of the above have TMC so you could pick up an M disk very cheaply. techieboy
Not sure, but even if you upgraded to the latest firmware I don't think the TMC codes are embedded in your older map disks, so it won't actually work anyway. There should be cheaper 2007_1 DVD's on fleabay now that include the TMC firmware upgrades and whose maps include the relevant data. Edit: there you go, beaten to it by Craig

techieboy
The auction that edowen has linked to looks be okay. But, be careful when looking at some of the eBay auctions. I've seen a few recently where only disk 2 of the two DVD's is in the auction, with some careful wording to obscure that fact. You definitely need DVD 1 as this includes the firmware update and the UK (+Western Europe) maps. DVD 2 contains maps for Eastern European countries and might not be much use to you.
