big_guy
A friend of mine wants to buy a second hand 123d M Sport and wants to know if he could fit a 6'4" surfboard into either a three or 4 door version of this 1 series. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding which would be a better fit? Assume this model has split folding rear seats to accommodate a surfboard, can anyone confirm? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers BG
Calm Chris
Here' the side on of a 1 series I'd think he'd be better off getting some roof rails
PeterS
I'm pretty sure it'd need to go on the roof. Our 120d (5 door) didn't look anywhere near big enough for a 6'4" board, whatever angle you tried. It was bad enough trying to get a 5' christmas tree in Peter
big_guy
cheers lads, much appreciated. He did tell me that he managed to get his board into a nissan micra by angling it over the passenger seat. The micra is actually quite a roomy car when I've been in it but I think the 1 series is not as tall. Any ideas how much a roof rack would cost? PeterS
Couldn't see one anything at all on the BMW website, but I've used these guys before for a set of Thule aero bars and feet which I've used on an A4 Avant, an S211 E Class Estate, an E46 Touring and 2 E61 Tourings, so not a bad investment IMO Peter
gizze
I'm with Peter, my Thule system has seen around 6 cars now, and you can always add the bits you want, even years later, and you know they will be compatible.
