Brabus
How do I add gadgets to my desktop? Clock, cpu monitor etc? Currently I have some google bar which looks similar but is crap.
byron13
On the desktop or sidebar ? On sidebar just right click, props and there is an add feature, lots to choose from.
Brabus
The one I have is Google, how do I remove it and have the windows one instead?
byron13
Suspect you may find the google one knocks out the vista one, try control panel, sidebar and see if it can be "switched" on?
Brabus
All done, cheers.
Waylander
that was lucky! sometimes when removing the google one you need to edit the registry to turn the Vista one back on. So what gadgets you boys using?
CarMad
Found a great new one for monitoring quad core procs and the memory all rolled into one. Not on that PC at the min so can't say which one. Also just found a new one that shows the upload / download rates and IP address etc. for network interfaces installed it onto my Dads new laptop and that looked pretty good. Others are the News 24 that allows you to have full screen streamed video or a small image, good to have if something is hitting the headlines and you don't have a TV in the room. Am using the same memory monitor thing as Carmad, stock and currency info (a bit crap really), weatherbug and a few others. Pretty cool I think
Gren
Same here - processor/memory usage oneas well as Weather (undocked - looks nicer), stocks, drive space, processes, clock/date and a quicklaunch one.
Waylander
that quicklaunch one is BLOODY useful
Brabus
What does it do?
Waylander
basically it is like the quicklaunch on the toolbar in XP but you can drag an executable icon to it so things that you open frequently OR things you can to delve deep to look for are readily at hand. Carmad can you link to the quadcore/mem one as well as the internet ones you mention?
CarMad
Sure will do it a bit later when I'm on that PC. I'm on a Win 2000 laptop at the min.

durtydurty
I downloaded the network monitoring tool and it doesnt detect a network. I am just on a small home wireless network so nothing huge but it doesnt detect anything. Have played with the settings but to no avail. Any ideas? Gren
Have used their processor/ram one before but it was too busy so went back to the more simple one from the MS site. Am trying the network meter one now. Have had problems with these types of gadgets in the past - flickering on and off but this seems okay so far. Waylander
Thanks. Got them but found them a little too busy for my taste. There is another nice one called System Info that I like. you click on in and a side window slides open with all the info you need but otherwise closes down to an icon.
