craigyb
SO I travelled to London today and ran the tank virtually dry. Filled up at the local Esso with normal diesel and the pump shut down at £100.30 and I still had room in the tank for more.
cruiser647
Think of the planet - you resource hog! That's a real sobering thought! £100.30 - I'd have cried.
CarMad
And how far will that £100 get you, its starting to get pretty damn expensive to run these lovely cars, ah well hey. :D
davidhodgkinson
£100 - thats some going craig. The S3 took £70 last time to fill it and that only lasted 240 miles
962C
The S3 took £70 last time to fill it and that only lasted 240 miles You must drive like a loony - based on 120p a litre V Power, that's like 19mpg!

craigyb
Well it would have got me around 275-325 miles in the W12. But it would have cost me £5 less. Now it gets me around 475 to 550 in the A8 4.2 Tdi, so I'm really doing my bit to save the planet. shark_90
Have you been following me???? All my driving is done on short quick runs That sounds relatively good! Put £64 in the S2 on Saturday with the trip reading 204 miles... scary!
Andrew
This is why by tomorow morning I'll have cycled 85 miles this week - saves me a fortune! LCR returning 23mpg on my normal routes and like the S3, £70 to fill up. Oh, and here is a question, why doesn't the government put up the allwance on business milaege refunds. I thought it was set at 40p. My company gives me a car allowance which is pretty good but a mere 25p a mile which hasn't changed in 10 years (no matter how much I moan). Soon it won't be cost effective to drive for business anymore but I'm being paid a car allowance so I have to ...
Ari
Brimmed the Cooper S with Shell V Max or what-ever it's called last night. Was almost running on fumes. Cost £55 (I think it's about a 50 litre tank) and gave a range figure of 350 miles. Not too bad.
simkna
I filled the tank's tank (look at my sig, you'll see what I mean) last night, and even at Saino's it cost me £98. May be time to get off my lard arse and cycle to work. Si.
Andrew
Yes, but do factor in the £130 servicing the bike will need annually and the never ending cycle of buying lighter (and more expensive) trick parts!! How about a saddle made of Carbon Fibre for £200 ...
Thorburn
Cost me £25 to do the 220 mile trip to Portsmouth and back the other week... Reckon I can JUST ABOUT get it up to Dunblaine next weekend on a single tank, but I'll fill up when I stop for lunch to be on the safe side. At least with a 40L tank it never seems that expensive. alera
My w12 does around 250 - 300 miles on £90 worth of fuel... That said we dont commute in either of our cars. Combined yearly mileage is under 4000 miles...

962C
Yeh, I bet a petrol A8 is the kiss of death for a dealer's forecourt these days. You just reminded me of something. Coming come tonight I was sat waiting on a two lane stretch of road when a lovely black Phaeton pulled up next to me. Couldn't quite see the engine badge, hence I rolled back a tad (was safe to do so before anyone blasts me!) V10 TDi. Whilst buyers might have got some stick at the time, going diesel, they must be laughing all the way to the bank now!!
alera
Not really. At 2 and a half tons the v10 tdi lump only does between 25 mpg on a combined cycle. Plus there is a design flaw in the engine. It cant disipate heat quickly enough and the cylinders can end up warping, even at relatively low miles (like sub 50K) Its a rare block but I have heard of around half a dozen Phaetons / Tourags its happened too. Some out of warranty.
