Just bought a Cayman S...

Much as I loved the 335d, I felt like a change.

Pick it up tomorrow - pics once I get it!

Spec: '55 2005 Cayman S, with PASM, PCM, Nav, sports seats, in Arctic silver, Xenons, and full porsche warranty, 19 sport design alloys, Sport chrono, and a few other bits I have forgotten...

Looks like this one:

Cant wait! And only an extra £13 for the remaining 6 months of insurance!

Some pics.

I have only driven it for a day - but it fits like a glove.

The noise is great. I'm not convinced about PASM - not sure I would have paid the money for it - I think you need a track, or very smooth roads (not happening in Surrey).

Performance is excellent - although it is taking me time to get used to not having the massive low down torque of the 335d (and also having to change gear myself again!).

The steering and handling are all absoloutely spot on (and I've owned and Elise and an Exige amongst other things)..

More info after I have done more driving!

That's the benefit of buying used - you go out looking for the colour and key options you want, but 'the one' inetivably has a few extra bits as well. Shouldn't expect there is much difference price wise between the standard suspension and PASM damped cars?

Oh and yes it looks lovely!!

I wasnt even bothered about colour (within reason!).

There are hardly any cars with PASM (not surprising I think it is quite pricey). This car was a demo first, hence the big spec I think.

Certainly the major options are good for resale, but dont add much to the price. The stopwatch is a nonsense too - but again, happy to have all these things! I def wanted to have Navigation, Porsche warranty, sports seats and Xenons - anything else is a bonus.

I think the original spec was an eye watering £52k or thereabouts...

PASM is well worth having (I assume it is identical on the Cayman as for the 911?)

The suspension adapts to your driving - when you switch 'Sport' mode on, it defaults to the stiffest setting possible (very stiff!!) and then softens slightly according to your driving style.

There is some overlap between normal and sports, so that the stiffest setting under normal is actually stiffer than the softest setting under sport.

In normal or even press-on driving the standard suspension adapts well enough, but I do find that the car corners much flatter with sport mode on. It does initially feel quite harsh once you turn off the A-roads and on to bumpy, pot-holed roads, before it adapts to the new conditions and softens accordingly.

I think it's an excellent system and much better than a single fixed suspension.

That looks lovely!

I love those 19" SD wheels - looks great in Silver as well - I guess as I did you will find it to be a bit of a head turner compared to the BMW and people will look at you funny a lot more!

I have never driven a Cayman S - but the Boxster S I have and I loved the torque and the noise when you put your foot down.

Thats got a lot of spec someone must have been romanced by the dealer on that one...

May you have many miles of trouble free motoring in it mate!
