Moving PCI SATA RAID

Since upgrading my main PC I have a few parts left over to upgrade my media server, i.e. motherboard and CPU. The current server consists of one HDD with the OS on it and 4 HDDs attached to a PCI SATA RAID card configured as RAID 10. My question is, can I move the array to what will effectively be a new PC?

If build the PC and install the OS to a single HDD, then install the RAID card drivers, can I then move the array, keeping the HDDs attached to the same ports, to the new PC and not lose the data?

I don't think I have enough spare HDDs to transfer the data to a separate disc(s) and rebuild the array from scratch in the new PC. So I'm hoping I can just move it. All my photos are on the array and backed up elsewhere, so they're safe(ish). But I also have a lot of video footage on there too. I don't have the space elsewhere to back it up separately. I still have the tapes (in effect a backup) so worse case scenario I can re-capture it all, but that would take weeks.

The array details are held in the ROMs of the RAID card. It is perfectly possible to transfer your RAID to another PC. Just make sure that the same disk occupies the same place on the RAID controller card. Once the card is installed on the new PC you can enter the controllers BIOS and you will see your array still there. In effect the array wont know its moved. As with all data, back it up, back it up, back it up. I keep a couple of big disks just for such circumstances as this.

Wow! I wasn't expecting a reply so fast. Thanks. +++

I keep saying to myself I should get a larger external HDD to act as another backup. The one I have is only 250gb and I use it to backup only a fraction of the most important stuff. But I can't really afford one, especially after spending a small fortune on the parts for my new 'video editing computer'.
