philip_dixon
Gearbox starting to become less smooth and occassional thump (2.8 Quattro Sport 02, 75k miles). Can anyone recommend somewhere in the North West that will change the gearbox oil and strainers at a sensible price?
harpersimon
Where about are you in the North West - Just moved there so if you find someone I would be interested to know who (had planned to do it myself as I hate labour rates!)
philip_dixon
I'm in Lancaster. The Audi dealers in Preston aren't that bad but imagine they wont fall over themselves to do this at a reasonable rate.
harpersimon
I'll be in Morecambe from next week and don't know any suppliers (or anyone for that matter) in the area - but there must be some automotive places about since there are so many pimped boy racer cars about!! IT_S8
http://www.transcentre.co.uk/ - Chester Auto tranmsissions come highly recommended. They have a special gadget that can suck almost all of the fluid out the box too, rather than letting it drain for hours and praying that you can get most of it out... Rates were ok from memory. harpersimon
Transcentre as above quoted me £155 plus the Vodka and Tonic for a greabox service. Sounds reasonable to me..
PsYcHe
Jeez.. That's cheap. About half the normal price I've seen.

LostKiwi
I'd check to make sure that includes the approved liquid gold Audi ATF (about £11 per litre!), but it is a good price given the exhaust will need to be dropped and there is a lot of labour there... harpersimon
Drop the exhaust? you mean for the 2 torx that are somewhat hidden? I thought that was possible with a ground down torx bit a la Audipages? - I will check though with the guy!
