Sponge
I've been using the sticker on the inside of the driver's door which says 32psi, but the guys that checked my wheel alignment and balancing recently said that's too low and it needs to be 34-36 psi. They inflated them to 36. The car was empty. I'm aware of how a tyre can wear when under/over inflated, but by then it's too late as the damage is done. Cupramax
What were they basing this info on? How can they possibly argue with manufacturer recommended figures?
Sponge
They said the recommended pressures were for one type of tyre. Probably the tyre that came with the car, but they didn't specify. All tyres are different and I should inflate mine to between 34 and 36, especially as I have such a heavy car. They failed to comment on the fact that car manufacturers change the tyres that they supply all the time, but the sticker on the car probably stays the same. They didn't even ask what tyres my car originally came with. They knew I'd recently fitted 4 news tyres, but for all they knew they were the same. I'm assuming if I contact Good Year for their recommendation they'd just direct me to Audi and probably vice versa. Cupramax
I really dont understand quite why there are sooooo many tyre pressure related threads on here. I just set mine to what the sticker says and forget it.... To be honest their comments are so stupid it doesn't even warrant discussion. Sponge
...I just set mine to what the sticker says and forget it.... That's what I've been doing since October 2005, when I first got the car. But when a so-called 'specialist' tells you something different, you can't help but reconsider. PetrolDave
when a so-called 'specialist' tells you something different Depends on who the specialist works for ... if it's one of the "standard" tyre fitting chains like Kwik Fit then I would treat their advice as a useless throw away comment, but it's from a real tyre specialist (like Micheldever, Denmead, etc) then it's worth listening to. My opinion only ...
MrAvant
That is really strange becasue my 2005 A4 Avant 2.0 TDI s-line sticker states 35 psi and that is what i have been inflating them too since i have had it. The car has the original conti's on the rear and very recently i have changed the front two to Goodyear F1's.
A4Ade
I've been using the sticker on the inside of the driver's door which says 32psi, but the guys that checked my wheel alignment and balancing recently said that's too low and it needs to be 34-36 psi. What size tyres do you have? My sticker gives pressures for 16" and 17" wheels, but I have 19" wheels on - will this make a difference to recommended tyre pressures? Cheers, Ade
