slight_problem
hi there new to the forum, and iv just brought a golf gti t not yet collected, but some scum bag has taken a liking to the passenger side door lock. the lock is now totally fcuk'ed i can use my finger to open the passenger side door, and also use it to roll all the windows down. iv been looking at threads on de-locking and im under the impression this is use less. so what do i do now, im gonna have to replace the lock now anyhow and will proberly go for the delock as i think it looks nicer, but is there any thing i can do to stop this happening in the future, also the car is 5 door so do all doors have this roll down feature. cheers for your help
cruiser647
Welcome to TSN! The only way to stop this, is to have a 24hr security guard patrolling around the car. You are not allowed to shoot them if you catch some-one, you can't electrocute them, burn them or anything of the kind. -- So ineffect - No, nothing you can do. Cuprabob
What you can do though is give them a good kicking and when the BIB turn up just say "you were trying to help him but he seems to have taken an epileptic fit and you were only restraining him so he couldn't harm himself" By no means am condoning violence or belittling people who genuinely suffer from epilepsy
Dave
You are allowed to use reasonable force to detain a suspect... Sometimes that is more reasonable than other times
Cagey
Perhaps I'm reading your post wrong, but.... ...You say you haven't collected the car yet? Is the seller not interested in helping toward replacing the lock? Welcome to TSN BTW.
slight_problem
its a back street garage, and iv already paid for the car. i pick it up 2night. so the only thing i can do is delock it to try and detur them in the future. see now if it were SAfrica then i could have flame throwers down the side of the car. mb
You can cut one of the wires to disable the roll-down feature but people usually go for the de-lock & also beef up the ally plate with some resin, 5p pieces etc. Do have a good trawl of all the de-locking threads as if you undo the screw too far it disengages from the lock and a 10 minute job becomes an all day job... slight_problem
no i just read the first couple of replys on a delocking thread, which were mainly that it was a waste of time. so i didnt bother reading any further. ill go back and see what else is to be said then. cheers
Cuprabob
Surely as the damage was done while the car was in the garage and you haven't accepted delivery it's their responsibility
slight_problem
IV TRIED SAYIN THAT. BUT THERE SAYIN THAT IT WAS ALREADY DONE WHEN I LOOKED AT THE CAR THE FIRST TIME. AND THERE ALSO SAYIN THAT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS P/X ITS SOLD AS SEEN. CANT BE BOTHERD WITH THE HASSLE NOW:ffs: AS ITS ONLY GONNA COST ME AROUND THE £20 MARK TO GET THE DELOCK KIT AND ILL PROBERLY DO A BETTER JOB OF IT ANYWAY
