fatcat
Having the car from out of the box, then re-mapping with Revo and finally the last re-map is with Oettinger, I thought it was time for my view of how the 2 re-maps compare. I had the Revo re-map done at 22k and with the car some 8 months old, so the engine was well on the way to being run in. First off, the first thing you notice with Revo is the sheer kick in the back and the tremendous torque as you accelerate through 4th, 5th & 6th, say from 35mph upto 110mph, Revo topped out at some 140mph. After 110mph the engine was stuggling to keep the same levels of torque applied. Oettinger, however has less torque, not much less but enough to notice there is something missing........., Oettinger peaks at some 130mph, but the 100-130mph times are quicker but less rushed. Therefore acceleration through 4th, 5th & 6th is not as urgent, nonetheless the delivery of the power is extremely smooth and seamless through the whole rev range. At low revs Revo did suffer lag, Oettinger has overcome this and is quite spirited in the first 1500rpm. Smoking is substancially less with Oettinger, but the Ultimate diesel has helped here, but upon reflection the Revo did smoke a little. Mpg has improved without a doubt, the trip upto Oulton park demonstrated that ! On the track the Oettinger did quite well, If I had driven the car with the Revo in I do feel that I may not have come through some of the slippery corners as well as I did in with the Oettinger, the turbo and torque kicking in would have been a bit tricky........... In normal day to day driving, the Oettinger is a gem, smooth and effortless, the Revo screamed at you to surge everywhere at extreme velocity. Oettinger is quieter, Revo is harsher. All in all, two very different re-maps and performances, in a perfect world I would want the Revo performance, but with the Oettinger delivery...... Now is that MTM or AMD................. Sven
Very informative! Surprising to see there is so much (noticable) difference between the two. This proves a remap listens very closely, even on a diesel...
