jigs
Hi guys, My car has been leaking oil , thought it was coming from the engine, but it is coming from the gearbox where the is a leak from the pan gasket. So the pan gasket will need replacing and transmission oil replaced. Is this a tricky job, I have been told tat you have to pump the fluid in from the bottom which is tricky . How much oil will be needed? how much does it cost? What are the costs for parts and labour? One for the indy or DIY? Thanks Jig

Have a look at the A8 section for transmission fluid replacement, as this is always a hot topic there. The full procedure for the A8 Quattro is in there, BUT you might not need quite so much fluid. You will need to keep the car level and up on jacks. The gearbox is probably a ZF HP**** as is usual for Audi's and BM's. Ask for a quote from your BMW and indy dealer. Make sure they use the correct fluid.
tom_hargreaves
How old is the car?? If it's within warranty then let the dealer worry about it.
