Really wanted to get the new car back to looking it's best. I'm a) too lazy and b) not skilled enough to do it myself, so have employed a detailer to to the business.

Turned up at 7am this morning, used a foam lance and various other cleaning "stuff", now moved the car into our warehouse. Has done a paint depth check and it looks like the passenger side of the car has been resprayed "proffessionaly" as the depth is 1thou deeper, but the general condition of the paintwork is very good. Starting the Claying now.

Really looking forward to the end result and a good protective layer for the Autumn/Winter months ahead.

So was the car damaged before you took delivery?

We are not sure, it could have been, or it could just be the fact it's a pre-release vehicle and the paint finish has been done by hand. Either way it's been done well... so I'm not fussed.

Maybe Top Gear clipped the tyre wall out in Spain ???!!!

There has however been some sort of "smart repair" done on the passenger door afterwards, which HOPEFULLY can be corrected today... the actual reason for me getting the car done.

Biscuits, if you don't mind me asking what does something like that cost?

It's not cheap, for the full monty it's costing me £350. We charge our engineers out at £340 a day, so sound about right... and our guys arn't on-site more that 8hrs !

He's just taping the car up now, before starting with the "machine/spinny wheel thingy"

Cool! It will be great to see the finished pics. That colour is a personal favorite of mine, rather you then me with keeping those wheels cleans though!

Battery in my camera is flat, charger at home too... :ffs:

Th e wheels stay good looking with dirt, the wheels are sprayed grey, then the outer edges (spokes) are polished and laquered, so brake dust doen't show up too much. I dread the day I curb one though, the reburb cost will be eye watering!

The machine spinny wheel thing is for cutting off the rear quarter....the tape is to ensure he gets a clean straight line....probably just as well your camera battery is flat :P:grin:

To be fair, £350 for a top detailing job is reasonable value in the grand scheme of car ownership. It's easy to pay double that in servicing costs and treble in insurance costs. You can actually see what you've got for your money too.

Finished quite late last night, so didn't have time to get on the computer when I got home (was already in the dog house!)

I've very impressed with how professional David was yesterday. He explained each process, gave advice on aftercare and generally did a top job. The car looked stunning....... right to the point it started raining before the drive home. To be fair, even after the ruin into the office this morning in the fog and drizzle, it's still looking stunning.

Could only get some shots of the car using my iPhone last night while it was still in our warehouse... but the car looks a lot lightr than it did... more silvery if that makes sence. David mentioned the clay took off a lot of yellow residue, so this is probably the reason. The smart repair problem turned out to be some rather enthusiastic 'T-Cutting' by some numpty, safe to say it's all sorted now.

He's used a UV protecting wax on the roof and a 3M sealant for the paintwork. I'll get an email with all the products used (there were more bottles of product than in my wife's bathroom cabinet!) along with a "how to keep your car protected/looking good" guide.

The leather interior has been cleaned, fed and watered.

Overall I'm very very pleased and think for the time and effort it was well worth £350.

I'll book David again in 4-6 months time to top-up and bring the car back to the gleeming condition it is now in.

Pic's attached.

Awesome! Money well spent i think and thats is a great colour and it looks superb in those pics! You can tell the difference in dimension and depth now it has been polished? The roof looks very good, are you going to just maintain it now until it next needs a detailer?

Im not to familar with all of the 3M products but they have ALOT of products out in the USA, even in walk in shops. They purchased alot of Meguiars too so i think there is alot more to come from these guys and it should all be good! It will be good to hear how it all goes on your car in the following months.

Avoid the birds crap and enjoy!
