They're really lost it now - £100,000 for a standard production German SUV

Well I think Audi have properly lost it now. Yes, I know the R10 is an awesome Le Mans car and when they stick the V12 TDI in the R8 it'll be great, but get this (courtesy of the latest EVO mag I was reading last night):

You can now order a Q7 with a 6 litre V12 TDI. 500bhp and 1000Nm of torque (that's 737 torques in old money). It's 2600 KG and it'll apparently do 25mpg (presumably downhill with some squirrels pushing it and the engine turned off.

It'll hit 62 in 5.5 seconds and hit 155 top end.

And it'll only set you back £96,295.

Yes, that's ninety six thousand, two hundred and ninety five of your fine british pounds

Doubtless at least two people will buy one (probably between them).

Fear the depreciation on this chunk of metal and plastic...

I think Dave has mentioned this in another part of this Forum somewhere. Can't remember where though, but yes, £100K for it is............a fecking lot of cash for it.

25 MPG? Not bad considering........... However, don't suppose the testers ever put their combined foots' weight more than 1% angle on the accelerator! The torque at idle is probably enough to pull Everest.

Bet it sounds good at just over idle!!!!

If I was to spend that much on a car, i'd at least want it to do 0-60 in under 5 seconds. Whether it weighs the same as a Phantom or not.

But if I was opting for a 4x4 i'd still go for the X5 4.8i. The 40 grand saved buying one of these instead could be put towards fueling it for 12 months.

I doubt they will sell that many i just dont see the brand having a call for SUV's like that. Its not likes a special RR or Cayanne (though im sure they are similar!) who maybe me able to attract in buyers.

I saw alot of those GL class MB's when i was in the states, the new ones they look pretty good and they probably set you back about £70K-80K but they do look the part!

I can't find any SFW pics to respond. Anyone got any ideas for pictures to illustrate f*ckwit?

FFS Charles, don't you know anything ? The Geezer electrocuting a frog is Claude Bernard who once said "Art is I, Science is we"*, which kind of sums it all up, don't you think ?

*But in French, in the 19th century, long before hideous overpriced fat SUVs were even invented.

They will sell... in small numbers.... to the mega rich.. for the wife with kids and for who £100,000 is small change.

Don't you think that segment is already overcrowded : Cayenne, RR, Merc ML, X5, Escalade (and to a lesser extent Toureg, Landcruiser, Lexus RH etc etc). I don't believe that any of these vehicles currently hit their original planned sales targets, and the current market trend is going against them too.

Never mind the Q7, this is more interesting. Why did he decide to plug the frog into the mains?

And I also don't think they're £96K base price.

One of the reasons Porsche are bringing out the Panamera is because Cayenne sales are being hit hard (Cayenne sales account for 48% of Porsche's unit sales in the US, which is their biggest market).

The one interesting thing is that Porsche have seen this coming. Audi (yes, I know they're controlled by Porsche now) don't really seem to have seen it. The Q7 hasn't long since been launched and they're still pumping out stuff like this.

For the record, I just don't get Chelsea Tractors and no, Duisberg, I've got no feckin idea who your mad scientist was. I never listened to anything at school...

I might be wrong but I believe it was something to do with proving that electricity could control muscle movements. I think the frog was dead and when he did it it moved and then some ladies in the audience fainted or something.

Fecking hate Q7's by the way, couldn't believe how huge they were when I first saw one up close.
