enigma5010
Ok hear goes, after replacing both side wishbones and bushes, bearings, both side outer cv joints and driver side track rod end due to a field incident realized that the drivers side hub was also cracked in two places on the splined section, ordered a new hub from Euro Car Parts which took ages to arrive, got it fitted with new bearing to hub carrier, fitted whole setup to car then found a loud chatter from the drivers side break pads as if either the disk was warped or not seated correctly, on inspection with the drivers side wheel jacked off the deck and removed disk secured with wheel nuts; ran the motor in gear to get a closer look and found it did appear the disk to be oscilating, the disk was reasonably new and wasnt warped when removed from the car so hub carrier assembly removed and taken to local garage (Kenny's Inverness) to check for correct seating etc on hydraulic press, all seemed fine so returned home re-assembled and found the problem still occuring Phoned E.C.P about ****ty bit, was passed around a few peeps cause i wanted a new bearing chucked in for the hastle, push came to shove by the next day found out that they would collect the buggered one but i wouldnt find out about gettin a replacment/ refund or bearing until a warraty exam was done on the bit(TIME WASTING F**KERS!!!!!!!), when the courier came to collect the bust bit in the evening he miraculously delivered a new hub?!?!!?!? WTF!! Next day, Dingbro ripped me off for a new bearing got the new bearing pushed out and the newer bearing pushed in with the hub, happy as pig in shiz went home to refit hub carrier which i gotta say i am now expert in, all seemed fine until took the Rock down to glasgay this weekend and noticed tell tale noises from the brakes, applying the brakes first time if they hadnt been pressed for a while resulted in quite a loud clunk from the pads it seemed, so today thought it has to be that either the pads have been worn in some way from the previous faulty hub or that the disk is in fact bent, went to Halfords got new disks/pads, fitted, still same prob but now constant chatter Anyone for toasted Scirocco?? I did notice that the drive shafts seem to be evenly oscialting, could this be the problem?? what could be causing this? i did notice that the inner cv joints weren't perfect, also is it possible that the carrier is mangled some how?? it was the passenger side that took the brunt in the field btw not the current problem side? HELP ME PLEASE!! SINCE I GOT THIS CAR MY LIFE HAS REVOLVED AROUND FIXING IT !!!!! (car cost £50 btw - no tax or mot, or 4th and 5th gear!)
Pumazooma
Sounds like the original version rather than the new one. If you google for 'scirocco club' you'll find a couple of good owners clubs forums for the old models.
Snoopy
May sound daft but you have fitted the anti rattle springs to the pads and its not simply the pads moving about in the carrier due to them not been fitted. I know it sounds daft to ask this due to you seem to know what your doing but its always worth asking the simple questions first.
