Abs
Do you have any picture's of it on your car? And also, how much would postage be to the Midlands?
Steven944
Hi, I'm sorry I don't have a picture of it on the car - I should have thought about that I guess ! It looks very like the Milltek: http://www.millteksport.com/media/custom/52.jpg The only difference is that the tailpipes are not cut at an angle, and they are of a slightly larger diameter. Posteage to the Midlands would be £8 as my company has a deal with Business Post. Let me know if you need any further info.
Steven944
that should be 'postage' of course !
CrazyEights
how much would it be to ship to the US (zip code 20708)? I am very interested since I have a 2000 D2 A8 and I'm sure it'd sound super nice with the addition of an x-pipe in substitution of the stock h-pipe and removal of the front resonator. phn
Unfortunately for us both, I purchased a Milltek silencer (as in the picture) a couple of months ago! It cost a lot more than 285....... Still, the liberated sound is worth every penny!
Abs
Will this fit a 2002 S8? Can anyone confirm that the exhaust was the same for a 1999 car and a 2002 car?
Steven944
yes, same exhaust from 1998-2002. See here: Audi S8 4.2 V8 quattro performance exhaust systems and high-flow sports catalysts the Supersprint website also confirms the same for 1998-2002 cars. SUPERSPRINT WEB SITE: WELCOME! DJStrange
I'm interested, but I'm concerned that it's gonna be too loud. I fitted a full magnex stainless system and miltek downpipes to my old vectra 2.5. It sounded loud, then I fitted my stereo (50watts X 5 RMS + 500watts RMS sub) and it was still too loud, even with extra soundproofing inside the car, so I removed the magnex system and sold it. I like stainless, it means lots of miles without replacing rusty pipes every 18 months to 2 years. It's just that no-one seems to make stainless stuff that's only a little louder than standard. Can you give me an indication as to how much louder than standard this box is, as I'm fitting my Alpine stuff gradually and don't want the exhaust note to interfere with my audio, most importantly at motorway speeds (2500 - 3500 RPM). Could you hear it a lot with all the windows closed on the motorway? After all the S8 was designed to be a quiet experience...
Steven944
It is very deep at low revs and you can certainly hear it when you're delving into the throttle. As soon as you back off the throttle however, it's as quiet as standard. It is absolutely no different from the standard system at motorway speeds. hope this helps. DJStrange
Hmm, tempting. I was gutted with the magnex as I spent a good wad on it and ended up selling it cheap as it was so loud. Is it a straight fit with standard pipe ('02 S8)? No mods needed? Ah, ok it fits... Steven944
hmm.....it's hard to tell the sound from all the background noise in that clip - I'd have to say it's a smoother sound, less raucous and probably a bit more 'woofly' - it' has more V8 'beat' than that - hope this helps !
