marc1
Is there a performance beneift to putting the exhaust from a 1.8T petrol car on a 1.9TDI car? Or are there potential problems doing this? Sensors etc?
cruiser647
I'd have thought the TDi version would be a stronger one anyway. I think the exhaust path is different, so mounting points are different too.
marc1
Thanks for your reply. I didn'tor realise there would be strength differences between the two. The Milltek system available for the diesel looks to be mounted much the same as the 1.8T standard exhaust. Interestingly I've noticed the two wheel drive diesels seem to have single sided exhausts, while the quattro versions have an exhaust exit on each side, but I don't know if this is just cosmetic or if there's actually a reason for it - if anyone does, please post up. I basically want to swap my hidden single sided exhaust for visible twin exit exhausts and have been offered the system from the 1.8T model. Any other info, advice, suggestions etc would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Mook
If it's just the back box you're replacing, you won't have any problems (can't confirm it'll fit though).
marc1
Great, thanks for that. I think the centre box is in the same place as the Milltek aftermarket system for the TDI, so I'm hoping it will fit ok. I think I just need to remove the plastic covers fromm the drivers side and add a heatshield on that side. Does anyone know why the quattro versions have an exhaust exit at each side on the B6 > models? I can't seem to find the answer to this and its bugging me! lol
Mook
I always wondered that as well - a debadged 1.9Q with dual exhuasts is the giveaway

I can't seem to find the answer to this and its bugging me! lol No idea why.. they just do! All 2.5TDi's do too, quattro and non-quattro. I imagine the reason is probably something to do with the rear diff on the quattro being in the way of the standard exhaust, as the 1.8Tq exhaust splits around the middle of the car IIRC.
