News_Stig
This will be nice............. These spy shots are slightly different to the norm – they were taken in China, and show a new Roewe SUV being put through its paces ahead of launch next year. European relevance comes with the fact that the car could well be heading over hear wearing an MG badge, as part of Roewe’s plans to use the famous octagon badge for its exported products. An ‘MG’ version of the Roewe 550 has already been introduced in Chile. The as-yet unnamed Roewe is based on the Ssangyong Kyron, sharing its proportions and mechanical set-up. Engines are expected to be identical to the Kyron so we can expect a 2.0- and 2.7-litre diesel – the latter of which is a previous-generation Mercedes CDI unit. Both models will be available with an automatic gearbox and four-wheel-drive. The Chinese firm has already said it intends to launch in the UK, and a keenly-priced SUV could be a sensible addition to the range. Looks very previous generation BMW X5 from the rear..... This will sell well So please form an orderly queue at your local MG dealership.
cruiser647
They've bought the badge, so they might as well use and/or abuse it.......
Mook
What do you get when you combine the front of a Merc ML, the grill of the old model S class the back end of an X5. As long as they all come in that colour scheme so I know when to get off the road
theduisbergkid
Right, so Ssangyong failed in the UK, but rebadging it as an MG means it will succeed ! Seriously, we're still waiting for the Rover 75, if the 75 can't sell here, what chance does this turd have ?
Mook
Is that a re-worked Ssangyong (oh knowlegeable one on all things from Chelfing)?
theduisbergkid
Is that a re-worked Ssangyong (oh knowlegeable one on all things from Chelfing)? Indeed it is, the Kyron in fact. I know from a mate in Stuttgart that Merc tried to pull the plug on the diesel engine supply deal as they didn't like being associated with Ssangyong's sh1tty image any more. There's something about doomed cars/companies I love ...
