JonC
She's looking more squat, thats for sure The gap should close even further as it looses a few more mm's over the coming weeks as it settles down.
phila8
yeah thats what i was thinking too, it seems to have settled a bit more a few days after taking the pic, ive got some nice 20 s to fill the arches a bit more aswell, ill get them on in the next few days hopfully. Ska
What set up (suspension kit) are you using? Defo improvement get some spacers if the off set isn't up to scatch on the 20's though.
JonC
They'll look snug in the arches. Earlier today I saw a V12 760iL with 20" rims; looked pretty good, but tbh, a bit too large. Mind you, the BMW wasn't lowered.
phila8
i just used off the shelf lowering springs, no coilovers due to cost and ride quality which is usually bad unless you spend serious money on adjustable damping aswell as ride height. as for the 20's i was concerned about going too big as sometimes it looks over the top which is not my style, especially with this sort of car which could end up looking like a apprentice drug dealers 'ride'. hopefully this wont happen as i just went for the a8 style multispoke wheels, just big, which im hoping will look audi-ish. Ska
Hang on! Is your car a sports model? if so what off the shelf springs gave you that amount of lowering? I ask because when ever I have asked any spring manufacturer which model they cater for they say the non sport version. So for a kit that lowers a non sport by 30mm would lower a sports model only by 10mm, please do tell.
phila8
i dont think mines a sport, i doesnt have that on the log book but it was a japanese import so the log book doesnt have the details of a uk car, plus the fact that it was so high to start with compared to other cars i had been looking at when i bought it. the kit was a -40mm kit, not that it looks quite -40mm. harpersimon
To be fair, the before pic does look like its quite high.. not sure mine is that high now and its never had lowering springs put on it, other than the replacements on the back when one broke, off a 4.
Ska
A quick check if it's a sport (although you have the sport 18inchers), is recaro seats or sports three spoke steering wheel. This is my sport before the 19" RS6's went on: Edited January 1, 2009 by Ska
phila8
in that case its not a sport, normal seats and steering wheel, nevermind! its still got the 4.2 lump so im happy with that!

phila8
id imagine the seats to be quite expensive and im not sure if the difference is worth it? plus mines a v low mile car and the interior is brand new so would be a bit cauitious of altering it, unless the sport seats are majorly different, i dont know? Ska
Having sat in both types I'd say the non sport has a real cosy feel over the recaros which look great and tend to hold your behind in place when negotiating some corners. The only way to find out is to give IT_S8 a shout, couldn't hurt.
phila8
i see, i tend not to throw it about too much, its good when i do but the car doesnt seem comfortable doing so! straight line car i rekon, much like the supra it replaced. my lass complains about sliding around tho so you may have a point! harpersimon
hahaha thats a good point. In these you have about 20 feet to slide on the leather before slamming into the double glazing :-)

The only way to find out is to give IT_S8 a shout, couldn't hurt. Thanks for the plug The sports are definitely the better looking ones, and the cudos of having Recaro sports seats is pretty high. We've got a bit of a stock pile of interiors at the moment, so prices are negotiable... Check out our Ebay sotre recro seats category: eBay.co.uk Shop - a8parts: Recaro Sports Seats: Breaking Audi A8 S8 Black Recaro Sports Seats PF Also, we do have 1 M-I-N-T black leather interior in. I never use the word mint unless I'm happy it really is, and this one is, from a 75,000 mile 2.8 drievn by an elderly gent.... Anyhoo, if anyone fancies the sport look, or an entire interior changeover, get in touch as we could do to make some room

Anyhoo, if anyone fancies the sport look, or an entire interior changeover, get in touch as we could do to make some room ..so if someone did want to swop the interior over.. would they be able to retain the current features they have.. e.g. the fact that their seats are currently heated etc..? is it that simple? IT_S8
..so if someone did want to swop the interior over.. would they be able to retain the current features they have.. e.g. the fact that their seats are currently heated etc..? is it that simple? Yes its not very complicated..... All sports seats are fully electric, heated and with drivers side memory. Where fitted, these functions are thus available after the changeover. Even the non sport seats with out full 14 way electric adjustment have got electric backrest adjustment, which uses the same power connector as the sports seats so when you change them over you will have full electric adjustment, just no memory. Even heating can be retrofitted, and on pre 1997 cars the wiring is all there. The rear seats are available in 4 basic versions: Basic With heating With electric adjustment for lumbar and headrest With electric adjustment for lumbar and headrest and heating In addition, cars after mod 1996 will have rear airbags, but rest assured we have a plentiful stock to get a match for what you need to get up and working. The rear electric adjust is very simple to wire in, and the heating is not overly complicated.... Facelift is a very similar story, only with slightly different colour leathers, airbags as standard but the same fundamental connectors everywhere. harpersimon
thanks for the info. food for thought, if its really worth it (thats the question!) I have fully electric fully heated seats in the front with memory, in leather just not sports. The rears are heated but not electric so maybe one day I swop those out. The other thing I wanted was blinds but I guess we are into a whole new ball game there!
IT_S8
The other thing I wanted was blinds but I guess we are into a whole new ball game there! Retrofit of blinds is pretty straight forward - Just change the rear shelf and back two door cards. Install hooks in the top of the rear doors and pop in some simple wiring from the blinds switch in the front to parcel shelf in the rear..... Blinds, and sports seats are both pretty straight forward upgrades. Sorry this has wandered significantly off topic.... perhaps worth starting a new thread if there are any more queries about retrofittability..... harpersimon
yup sorry - easy to get carried away into your own world.. My bad. We should have a sticky folder with peoples mods in it, how they did it, etc?
