putz
Just bought a netbook for travelling with but I need a USB DVD drive, can anyone recommend a cheap one that has multi-region playback ability? Or at least that can have its firmware changed for RPC1?
Rachel
LaCie make a good dual layer burner - that doesn't seem to be region encoded (I've got the Firewire 400 version) as I can put region 1, 2 and 4 discs in it and play them via VLC or via VLC after using Fairmount (on the Mac) to mount them... It is getting much harder to find new drives that can be flashed to RPC-1 as often manufacturers like Matsu****a (who do most of the Apple notebooks) haven't put out any firmware updates to their drives (these are used by the gurus to create a RPC-1 variant). HA HA HA HA - I can't even use the proper company name for the folks that make Panasonic gear without the TSN naughty word filtering police getting upset.
