Octavia Vrs faults

Hi,

I've had and engine management light and EPC light come up on my dash, dealer tells me I need a new ECU. Has anyone else experienced this ? Car is a 2006 Octavia Vrs petrol. Luckily it's covered under warranty.

Yes, some of the 2.0T ECUs do this, is the car still running OK? They report a checksum fault but still run OK usually.

Car running same as normal, seems like an expensive fix as it's running OK.

Not expensive to you though, thankfully! Reflashing the ECU generally clears it for a while, but it does come back.

I have a VRS 2006 Octavia and the EPC and Exhaust Management System light error are on. Skoda say I need a new ECU costing £1800.

My warranty only covers upto £500.

Quite a few people are experiencing the same issue. It's a shame Skoda don't take responsibility and recall vehicles to rectify the issue.

You shouldn't need a new ECU, they can reflash it with a software update. If you contact me by email or telephone (all details are on the website - Shark Performance - Volkswagen Audi Seat Skoda Mercedes BMW Ford Renault Tuning) I'll be able to do some checks for you and find out if you've had the update that's meant to solve the issue, and if you haven't I'll help you to sort it out.
