Evening.

I worked on this lovely low mileage CSL the other day. It was already in excellent condition but after 7 years it needed a little polishing and tidying to keep it looking its absolute best.

Just a few photos during the job as time was against me.

Exhaust before and after.

And then much MUCH later in the day... The completed car. Paint finished with Blackfire sealant, exhausts and wheels sealed with Blackfire metal sealant, tyres dressed with Blackfire tyre gel.

After having to cancel one GT3RS on Thursday due to the weather (again!), this job was able to go ahead as I and the car were nice and dry and warm inside the garage while it was raining sideways outside for most of the day!

Usual wash process of wheels with acid free cleaner, Pre foam and pressure rinse (remember don't just rinse the foam off.. you are actually wanting to pressure rinse off as much dirt as possible), Shampoo and Dry.

Extra time were spent on the wheels and arches removing rubber and tar deposits from track days.

Once inside the car was clayed, polished and protected. Wheels were sealed with blackfire high temp metal sealant and tyres were dressed with blackfire tyre gel.

About 10 hrs work all in but the car was looking spectacular for a 3 year old track tool.

Thanks for looking..and many thanks again to the owner for the soup and regular cups of tea :)

Awesome work +++ I guess it makes a change to work on an orange car.

I guess it was possibly a wheels off job to get into thise arches.

How durable is the Blackfire high temp metal sealant?

Looks like the NSF wing is a very very slightly different shade to the rest of the car. Had it had paintwork repair there? - perhaps just my eyes at this time of night

thnk it is just the angles. The door look slightly less orange than either of the wings because it is flatter I guess. The curves of the wings reflect the light differently altering the percieved hue of the colour coat.

I Think...........................................

No wheels stayed on, just turned to full lock either way and used different brushed and an old wash mit for the wheels and arches.

The Blackfire on the wheels is good. I dont get to see many of the cars I do again but a couple of regulars that have it on are definitely easier to clean with the sealant applied. I still use acid free cleaner and then re apply the sealant on each top up.

Correct, even in the flesh from some angles the orange looked different but under the lights the colour match was spot on and paint readings and the owner confirmed it was all original, just the funny angles making it look off sometimes.

Good morning.

This car was completed last week and I was so pleased with the outcome that I've got all out and done a nice video write up again.

(This may not yet be fully uploaded / processed but please check back shortly to view in full HD)

qdB4mVbN2ms

I first viewed this car back in March and it was in quite a state with some very heavy swirls and some rather deep looking marks where marks had obviously been rather poorly scrubbed off by hand in the past.

With Stuart back working (he has been out of action since January with a broken wrist), we arrived at what I have to say was a beautiful detailing space, and cracked on with the wash process. nothing too complicated here. Wheels cleaned in and out with acid free cleaner, arches cleaned, engine bay washed and de greased, car pre foamed in a strong mix of megs hyperwash and thoroughly pressure rinsed down, shampooed and dried.

ChrisBMWM6-02.jpg

ChrisBMWM6-03.jpg

ChrisBMWM6-04.jpg

I haven't included any claying photos for a long time but this was pretty filthy and every 2 sq foot area was taking 3-4 hits with the clay before it was completely contamination free. This photo was after 1 pass, then re fold the clay and do the same area again. 2-3 times later the clay would come up clean and then move onto the next section.

ChrisBMWM6-05.jpg

The polishing was carried out with 3m fast cut plus on a orange 3m cutting pad needed on most sections. The bonnet only needed 1-2 hits of this but the doors and rear quarters needed 3-4 hits to remove some of the deeper lines that looked to have been caused by bushes being rubbed along the car, or maybe it was cleaned with a brush at some point?? Either way there were some pretty horrible marks that were very difficult to remove. With the paint so hard as well we were then refining with Menzerna 3.02 on a megs polishing pad to remove any holograms or buffer trails from the fast cut plus.

Polishing was finished around 8pm. I always have grand ideas of videoing the finishing stages more but after polishing for so long I always give up on that idea and just want to get the car finished!

Exhausts polished, wheels sealed and tyres dressed with Blackfire products, paint sealed with Blackfire sealant, interior cleaned and leather treated, glass cleaned in and out.

All in about 25 man hrs and a result that exceeded my expectations given how bad some of the marks were at the begining.

Just a short a sweet write up this time to show a few photos of the GT2 that was detailed yesterday.

First time I've worked on a 997 GT2. Think I personally prefer the body styling of the GT3 but still an awesome car.

Wash process was fairly simple with the car just being a bit dusty but a long time was spent getting tar spots from the arches and wheels.

Car was polished with 3m yellow top and then unusually for our gloss enhancement details it was then refined with 3m blue top on a DA polisher to remove some faint holograms.

Car was the protected with Blackfire paint sealant along with the usual finishing touches. 11 hrs working time in total.

Busy few weeks! Yesterday we were down in central london working on a brand new Lightning Silver V12 Vantage. Stunning car with an amazing sports exhaust that made you jump on start up.

Being a new Aston Martin there were the usual poorly polished wet sanded areas, most notable of which was a quarter of the roof!! It looks like the rear end could have been caught when fitting the rear glass so they blew in that corner and then taped up the roof into quarters and sanded the nearside rear quarter..... and then just not bothered to polish it back up!! TUT TUT Aston!

Polishing of the affected areas (roof, boot, bumpers, sills, lower doors, wings, arches) took around 6 man hours. Happily the rest of the paint was finished well and was swirl free.

The paint was then treated to HD Cleanse and then 2 coats on Vintage wax while other dressings were applied and the interior detailed etc.

Finished photos...

Todays job was back at Aston Martin in Cambridge. They were so happy with the DBS Volante I did for them a few weeks back they asked me to prep this 09 plate coupe ready for its new owner.

Being a used car there were lots of swirls and yes... the usual Aston horror story of DA sanding marks pretty much everywhere!

A few quick photos following a new car protection detail on Saturday. Owner was a member on this forum.

Process was a careful wash to remove volcanic ash :)

clay to some panels, polish to all panels to remove water marks, protected with Blackfire sealant.

Hello.

Been a while since I've posted anything up as we have been rather busy but here is a bit of an update and full write up of the Vantage I did recently.

10 plate but had been a demo car for a few week so had been washed and wiped down by the dealer several times... and hidden under the swirl marks... some DA sanding marks from the factory.

The roof before polishing, swirls, haze and DA marks.

Interestingly the Aston problems of old have migrated from the lower panels (which were now polished well) to the upper larger more obvious panels!

Evening..

Not a billion dollar super car but a cherished car none the less and its been so long since I've had chance to do a write up I thought I'd show my face again :)

Now I'm sorry to have to upset many people on here who saw that Elite Detail now offer a service costing over £7000. My service I am afraid does not cost £7000... rather.. prices start at a very reasonable £500 for a full correction like this. If this offends or upsets anyone then I am happy to negotiate a price between £500 and £7000. Please email for details :D

The day started with a good wash for the wheels, arches, body, shuts etc. The car was then dried and clayed. Then the long fun job of perfecting the paint started.

The roof was original paint and needed a heavy cut polish to get through the swirls and then a medium-fine cut to polish out the marks left by the heavy cut polish.

Morning.

This should have been a nice easy job. Brand new car, 100 odd mile... you would have thought a car this new wouldn't need much polishing.

Well I started off with the usual wash regime. Wheels sprayed with acid free wheel cleaner and scrubbed in and out with different brushes to get right to the back of the wheel and then pressure rinsed off before moving to the next wheel.

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-01copy.jpg

Then onto the pre wash and the car was covered in meguairs hyperwash foam which was left to dwell for 5 mins. This helps soften any dirt on the car making it easier to pressure rinse it off before shampooing.

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-05.jpg

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-06.jpg

The idea is then to pressure rinse the dirt off... not just rinse the foam away.. so work quite slowly with the pressure washer and have the nozzle about 6-12 inches away from the car.

The car was then carefully shampooed, rinsed and dried.

Once inside and under the lights it was clear this would need a little more work than the usual new car protection detail.

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-10.jpg

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-11.jpg

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-12.jpg

PetersLamborghiniGallardo-13.jpg

Buffer trails, random scratches, swirls, wet sanding marks on every panel meant it took 2 whole days to complete this job. None of the marks were as bad as I have seen on new Aston Martins but appeared quite faint (although the hard paint meant that even a faint mark was very difficult to remove!)... but all the faint marks just left the car looking a bit 'dull' under direct lighting.

The wheels and all the carbon fibre in the engine bay were sealed with high temp metal sealant. Glass was sealed with RainX. Interior carbon fibre was also waxed and the interior was vacuumed.

Completed yesterday... a 1981 Ferrari 400i GT RHD. The only Rosso Corsa RHD Manual produced.

The car has been restored and resprayed some years ago but the paint was still single stage solid red so it required a very fine finishing polish to refine and leave a perfect hologram free finish.

The car was clayed with Sonus clay and then polished with Menzerna ip3.02 on a 3m cutting pad in places and a Megs polishing pad in other places. Then refined with a megs finishing pad and Menzerna 106fa and 3m Ultrafina in some places where I just couldn't get a crystal sharp finish from the menzerna.

Morning.... nice new look to the forum..

Hopefully the video isnt too dull and it gives a brief insight into how much work goes into the polishing... some great backing music as well if I do say so myself (yes yes one was used recently in a video on here but its so good I couldn't help but use it again). Remember to change it to 720HD

I spent 2 days on this 10,000 mile Evo2 E30 last week down at Munic Legends. The car was then heading to Devon to its new owner.

Not many in depth photos but I was working flat out again to get this done in the garage working hours.

All the way up in Hull for this job. Owner had contacted me a few months ago wanting to arrange for me to head up to detail it and make the paint perfect and give it a good few layers of protection.

Left my house at about 8am arriving in Hull just before lunch and set to work detailing all the way through to 11pm on day one and then started polishing again at 8am on day two and finished the Porsche at 3:30pm. Then went on to work through to 11:30pm again detailing a little mazda mx5 for his wife.

No in depth before an after shots I'm afraid but these were taken once the job was complete. Paint was protected with 1 layer of Blackfire paint sealant and then 2 layers of Vintage wax.

Completed this job last week. The solid black paint was looking a bit sorry for itself when viewed in direct light.

Pretty tough car to get right this one (as was apparent from the poor detailing job previously). Lots of tiny little bits to polish and lots of taping up and having to work with a very fine polish and soft pad to get the paint to finish down without the usual 'bodyshop esq' buffer trails everywhere

Before polishing showing where it had previously been taped up

Hopefully you can tell which panel has been polished in these photos :)
LeesFordGT-03.jpg
LeesFordGT-04.jpg

And all polished...
LeesFordGT-05.jpg

Some random fine but deeper lines remained but the clarity of the flat black was brought back.

Paint was then given 2 coats of Blackfire paint sealant along with other finishing touches such as wheels sealant, metal sealant on the exhaust tips, interior cleaned etc

and the final photos after about 18 hours work over 2 days...
