Gents,

Do you know of any good BMW specialist garage in the North East for my (05) 5 Series ? ( I stay in Sunderland and work in Newcastle.)

Having following issues, any help/advice

- Recently the back suspension is making a slight screeching noise. Can it be the shockers of the rubber bush?

-Also Micro filter is due for servicing, I have heard its very simple to do it your self, any tips and where to buy it from?

Chetan.

Hi Chetan,

I registered just to share my experience of similar issues. I have a 55 plate E60 530d SE out in the sticks of Durham.

I found a local Scooby approved garage (look after all makes tho) and they happily service my car with full diags as well. I was satisfied that they were competent at service/repairs to modern cars and I'd be damned going to Fawdington to have the pads changed. :P

After the harsh winter of '09 (car snowed in for 2 weeks) I noticed a screeching/squeaking coming from the rear suspension. Took it to those guys and they found part of the rear suspension was corroded.

Probably due to a combination of salt build up under there (local council were grit happy back then), -15 temps and it not being shifted for two weeks.

Got the genuine BMW parts and ended up being £350 with labour to replace them.

When we got snowed in this winter I went out everyday and bounced the suspension a few times while giving it a 5 minute tick over. This might be superstitious but no squeaking this year.

Microfilters are easy to replace if you have the right tool for the screws.

Good luck.
