sutherland
I have a strange problem with the Park Distance Control on a 2005 A6 Avant. There are no faults showing in VAG-COM and some of the sensors respond if you rub them with your finger or get extremely close to an object, but generally they do not detect objects. The rear bumper has been painted at some point. Can this be an issue if the paint is too thick or something? Any suggestions would be appreciated--I'm a little mystified as to why they are semi-working.
cruiser647
When you say the rear bumber has been painted, is there paint on the rear sensors? That would reduce their effeciency.
sutherland
Yes a nice thick coat of paint. I thought they had to be painted or do they come in the appropriate colour? Is their a some kind of tolerance limit on the paint thinkness?
cruiser647
Might be worth removing the paint?
sutherland
It turned out that all four sensors had lost the vitality of youth. £360 cured the problem.
