Frodo
Evening all, Been a while since I've posted but just thought I'd let you know of a problem I've had and the solution. As of a few weeks ago the DPF light came on on a trip home but then went out the next morning . Thought nothing of it until yesterday when I tried to pull away from a roundabout and had much less power than normal (bit hair raising at the time as I've become a bit complacent with quick pullaway using the Quattro grip). Anyway looking down at the instrument panel I had an amber DPF warning light and a flashing amber coil symbol. I'm assuming the car had gone into limp home mode hence the loss of power. Anyway I stopped the car and gave it a reboot ;o), power off, power on) but no joy. I was running on fumes so decided to head for a petrol station fill up and see what happened (hmmm re-reading that sentence I went to a petrol station but filled up with diesel). On the way the amber coil light went off and power was restored, filled up with diesel and the DPF was off when I restarted so thought nothing more whilst driving the 35 miles to work. On the way home as soon as I left work I got the DPF warning light followed by the amber coil light and loss of power. Heading home I had periods of normal behaviour with no warning lights, just the DPF light on and DPF & coil light. So those were my symptons and this morning I took the car into Eastbourne Audi. I've dealt with the service department before and they are very helpful (although I think they are a little scared of me as I once had a phone heated argument with Audi UK Customer Service in their showroom) I described the symptons to Russell, who's been there a while and handled my clutch problem in the A3 (which was the argument I had with Audi UK). He immediately said that their was a service bulletin relating to the DPF Pressure sensor but wasn't sure if it was for the 140 or 170 version of the 2.0TDi. Anyway I left the car with them as they didn't have the part but their sister dealership in Brighton did and were going to send it across. I picked the car up this evening and it is all fixed. The DPF pressure sensor was replaced and determined as faulty. In addition they did some other work described in other service bulletins effecting my car: - Luggage boot 12v connection can become faulty - Software update to resolve known problems with boot light staying on and oil pressure light coming on as a false positive. My problem sounds very similar to the discussion in the A3 thread (http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/audi-a3-s3-cabrio/110851-170-sportback-dpf-problems.html) so I am very grateful to the service department at Eastbourne for diagnosing the problem and resolving all under warranty. Hope this helps others Paul
Drinks
Just had the DPF pressure replaced on my B7 170 as well, at 23K. Emmission control system light came on followed 30 mins later by my first ever DPF light. DPF light went out after regen cycle. Emmission control didn't go out until it went into the workshop.
