Golf Tdi Running problems

I've just brought a golf that's being sitting for 2mnths. It had the sump knocked off and it has been replaced. It never started after this and its has had the diesel pipes off also :/

Now its trying to start and if you put diesel into the filter it will fire up but then run then it runs out and it pushes some of the diesel back into the filter. Could the car have a fuel cut off switch?

It will also have an air lock in the diesel system I have been told.

Please can you help me on this
