Andy_Bangle
The GT2 RS will carry a price tag of 240,000 euro when it arrives later this year and will supposedly pack enough power to topple the Carrera GT. Earlier reports indicate that the revised GT2, recently caught testing at the Nürburgring, will put out over 560 horsepower and 530 pound-feet of torque. In RS trim it is reportedly packing 620 hp and will come in nearly 90 kg lighter than the standard version a lighter than the current GT2. The 0-62 mph time is pegged at 3.2 seconds with a rumoured 'Ring time of... 7:22 – the same as the Dodge Viper ACR, plus we can expect a fully-adjustable suspension, roll cage and possibly some active aerodynamics. The launch car below has the following spec: - car is silver with the hood in naked carbon fiber - lower splitter also in carbon. the "vortex generators". The horizontal slats along the air intakes are in naked carbon also. - lower part of the rear bumper is in black, as are the side mirrors - the interior trim is all black alcantara, with CGT seats... but the shift knob, door handles, door armrests, handbrake handle, centre console compartment cover, and much of the steering wheel are covered in RED alcantara. - there's a small "GT2RS" script just behind the front wheel well, along the lower sill. not shouting like the GT3RS side decals or other typical Porsche side decal treatment - wheels are in gold with black centerlocks 300 units limited edition 90kg less than 997.1 GT2 0-100 km 3.2 620HP 0-200 well below 10s 0-300 well below 25s Ring rumoured at 7.22 Interior a la 997.2 RS Details on general release 14th May Will spank the GT3RS out of the ground (and your wallet with it) Edited May 4, 2010 by Andy_Bangle

theduisbergkid
You are news Stig and I claim my £5. Love the car, but why are all Manufacturers obsessed with 'ring times ? It needs more potholes and stop-start traffic if it is to represent UK roads...

Andy_Bangle
First offical pic's & info: This is the new 911 GT2 RS, successor to the 997-based GT2. All you really need to know is this: 620 horsepower from 3.6 twin-turbocharged litres, a 'Ring time of 7:18, and "improved fuel economy" (by 5%). It's lost 154 lbs or 70kg, gained 90 horsepower, and it doesn't like you. This fiend comes with a standard 6-Speed manual gearbox, Porsche's fancy ceramic brakes, "unique anti-roll bars", new tyres measuring 245/35 ZR 19 at the front and 325/30 ZR 19 at the rear that were specifically developed for this car,and a whole lot of other fancy suspension doo-dads. You'll also notice an abundance of carbon fibre and matte black paint. Inside, carbon fibre 2-piece buckets are standard, as are those nylon straps replacing the door handles. The official speed numbers are 0 to 60 (96km/h) in 3.4 (no doubt due to traction issues) and a 205 mph or 330km/h top-end barrier. The GT2 RS is being limited to a scant 500 units coming in at €237.578 ($245,000) a pop (cheaper than most estimates), and will be debuting at the Moscow Auto Show on August 25th 2010. Woppum
Will be an epic car, the gt2 was always softer than the gt3 and this will fill the gap. This is not an rs rival though. This would be additional. The rs is still the pure drivers car.
fizzbitt
That thing on track sounds like a fighter jet! The way it took the corners of the spectator section of the Nur was really bloody impressive. He just chucked it into that right hander as you head back up the hill and it stuck like glue! Even the race spec viper would have trouble taking that line going by what i remember of it.
Tipex
Do you mean the alternative ring taxi viper? If so, nothing race spec about it, it's bog standard except for some stickers and maybe a fruity exhaust! I almost drifted the legacy into the armco coming up that hill, full power, couldn't lift as I'd have spun, hoping she'd hold on, and she did, just. Poor tomfish* almost shat himself. *some of you know tomfish and his legendary drinking himself until he can't walk abilities! fizzbitt
I stand corrected then.. although there was a blue one and a red one when i was there. The red one was the taxi but not sure on the blue one. I also had a moment as i went down into that section.. the spectators were there and i thought id show off a bit and got on the gas just a tad early to get the back end out a bit... problem being is the adrenaline pushed the pedal a bit harder than i had hoped. Slid the back end out almost to the point of no coming back but managed to catch it and with a fish tail i was off along with somw brown pants. I swear there is a valid reason they call the MR2 turbo a widow maker! lol
Simon690
That is stunning, if I had the cash I'd buy one in a heart-beat. But not with the red interior.

Tipex
While I've no doubt it's an amazing car, it's been barried up to much. I don't like unpainted carbon fibre bits, makes the car look cheap, use carbon fibre by all means, but paint it for fecks sake.
fizzbitt
if you paint it... it will look like every other silver porsche 911. lol
DHA
Saw one yesterday parked next to a GT3RS. I prefer the GT3RS, it looks more raw and more motorsport than the 2RS.
