xzainy
compression is showing low, on my vw bora 1.9 tdi. this is after having work done on it. it was fine before i had the work done. anyway regardless of the compression, it is running fine, and there seems to be no problem, apart from a bit of smoke on start up. will the compression build up the more i run the car? or will driving it, cause further problem.. cruiser647
Blimey geezer! Not a lucky car is it. Not a clue on compression. When you say low, do you have the fiigures and the tolerances of what is 'right and wrong'?
xzainy
off the top of my head.. i think for a brand new engine it is about 29 per cylinder.. and about 19 on a used engine. mine, according to vw was showing 14 on one cylinder, and about 6 on the other 3. i had it checked before going to vw, and it was good. xzainy
yeah, thats what i thought, im surprised its starting, and driving perfect. do u reckon that the vw dealership is having me on, just to get some money..surely they would never do such a thing.....lol. its not a lucky car, well it was until things started going wrong. im thinking of doing a part exchange, now that everythig is ok on it, and ive just got 12 months mot. i was thinking of a vw sharan or similar..what do u think, are they reliable? cruiser647
i was thinking of a vw sharan or similar..what do u think, are they reliable? I don't think they are that reliable. Probably one of the worse performing VWs. After all, it was the ******** love child of Ford, VW and Seat. I'd steer clear. Do you need a people carrier? xzainy
i dont need one, i was just weighing up my options. which is a good people carrier, and how much am i looking at, price wise..? i want to px my bora, and get another car. i had a saab 93 convertable before the bora, and i had an audi a6 before the saab. i loved the audi, i must admit. choices choices.... Sharon is no less reliable than any other VW, they are all (the Galaxy and the Alhambra too) built from the VAG parts bin. Which means if you bought a Galaxy, you had a Ford which was made of VW bits, and hence not as reliable as you might have been used to with Fords. The Alhambra and the Sharon are well overdue being replaced though, it's a very old design, most of the switchgear/trim dates back to the mk4 Golf. Ford have replaced the Galaxy with a non VAG, all Ford (except for a bit of Peugeot in the engines) design, which is light years ahead of the Sharon/Alhambra.
