A8 D2 Facelift Sat Nav Questions

Hi. Thanks to a twathole reckless biker my A8 has been written off. Obviously I'm going to get another one and have decided to get a 99/00 facelift. Got a couple of questions about the sat nav though:

Is the sat nav any good? - compared to a Tomtom? Can the maps be updated? Does it only come with UK, or has it got EU maps as well?

Compared to a Tomtom the satnav is pretty basic. It doesn't have full postcode recognition and there are no speed cameras marked. After entering the first part of the postcode you have to then enter the street name and, if required, a range of house numbers. But there are 2 displays: the one on the screen which shows the map; and one on the instrument cluster which shows junction details, distance to next turn, total distance to go and estimated arrival time. You can get EU maps and it can be updated by getting a newer CD, but these are pretty expensive - more than you'd pay for a Tomtom!

But, having said all that, I quite like it and prefer it to sticking a box to the windscreen.

Go for full Audi Service History first - SatNav way down the list. I prefer to use a Garmin to the in-car Satnav in my D3 A8, but I'm a bit anal like that (probably 'cos I'm also a biker).
