simonali
Apologies for posting a thread from another forum, but I know a chap who is having problems with his Audi's clutch and it easier to post a link than explain it all here. If anyone could have a quick read it would be appreciated. Many thanks. Simon The Motor Forum :: Clutch issues.
burble
I'll echo what most others have said and suggest it being a hydraulic issue, probably the master cylinder. If the chap puts his foot under the clutch pedal and trys to gently push the pedal back up does it go? Does the pedal feel normal when pushing it down? It could also be a dodgy thrust bearing or slave cylinder but I'd be looking to the master cylinder first. Since the chap doesn't say where he is but there are suggestions of Bedford and Leamington for places to visit, I'll suggest having a chat with Ed at APS in Brackley. mb
If it is aB7 early model then there was a change to the slave cylinder so could be this has failed. Maybe post a query on rs246.com plenty of B5 & B7 owners to help there ?
PetrolDave
Early B7 RS4s had a return pipe that was too small a diameter which resulted in the clutch slipping under "enthusiastic" starts - Audi changed production and also fitted the larger diameter pipe to any existing cars when requested.
