hello, I'm wondering if anyone else has had a problem with the A3. I have a flat spot when changing from 1st gear to 2nd, whilst in 2nd gear i put gas down and I wont get any sort of response with it until 3-4 secs later...there are no revs either..im also finding problems when changing to 2nd and 3rd..

i took it to the main dealership today and they want to run a fuel injector test which is another 2 hrs labor on top of the work they already carried out but other garages doubt that it is the fuel injector..aghhh what should i do? Audi say that they have to carry out the test before they can do other tests.. confused.gif doesnt make sense to me...im lost and i dont want to have to pay Audi rates for needless work...please help

What type of engine is it you have?

What sort of RPM are you at when changing gear? or does the problem happen whatever the RPM? Did the garage tell you if they had pulled up any error codes when the car was last in? IF this is a turbo car then the DV would be my first port of call followed by the N75 possibly.

Welcome to the boards by the way, shame it couldn't of been under better circumstances beerchug.gif

thanks for answering so quickly, i have a 1.8se..yes the audi garage said that they have done some tests and the next one on the list was the fuel injector test..but im pretty sure it isn't ( not that i know much about cars) but i spoke to quite a few garages after they told me and they said it is really rare for something like that to happen..

i recently been changing from 1st to 2nd at approx 3000rpm

what is a n75?

thanks again

The N75 is only applicable for Turbo'd cars, so you needn't worry. It could well be a fuelling issue that is causing your fault, possibly a fuel preesure regulator fault would cause this symptom. A restriction to fuel would definately casue hesitation after lift off and re-applying power.

A couple of things that are relatively cheap to try are first off run your car out of the current fuel, which I'm assuming you use super (97) or normal (95) unleaded and then pop down to the Shell staion and stick in a tank of Optimax (98) and along with this but some injector cleaner from Halfords, the combination of these two should clean the injectors and fuel system out to a certain extent...it's worth a try.

I had an injector fail on my old 2.6 A4, so it does happen. That definitely caused lack lustre performance, especially at lower revs. I was fortunate that, although the car was just out of warranty, Audi met the full cost.

Hi well this is the update on the car, I put in the optimax and fuel additive..and the car runs a hell of alot better than before..it would slow down quite alot esp on the motorway before i put this new fuel and suppliment in...but the flat spot is still there? but not as bad as it was..hmmm im thinking maybe the fuel injector has failed because i dont seem to be getting as much power as i was on the motorway..

any help would be appreciated..thank you
