davebleloch
Does anyone have any experience in fitting a Symphony head unit into an A6 which came with a Concert tape head unit? Failing that, does anyone have a pic of the centre console of a '98 / '99 A6 with a Symphony fitted? I'm hoping to make a change but would like to see how it goes together! cheers Dave
grahamb
Here's my console from my '97 A6. Any use?
davebleloch
Yeah, thanks, I think it's the same layout as mine. I have no idea how a double height Symphony radio would go in there unless the A/C unit can be moved down into the void beneath it. ???
grahamb
What does the Symphony unit give you? Is it a better system than the one fitted (in mine)
davebleloch
I don't know if it's better...I wanted an Audi OEM head unit with a CD, which would also match the black console in my A6. Also I'm not keen on the flip-down CD cover. I think it looks pretty smart. I'll attach the pic I've got...there's more pics on my website http://www.theyellowhouse.fsnet.co.uk/images/a6/ The next job is to take the console out and see how the thing is held in there. Is there a decent workshop manual that covers 99 A6s? There's no Haynes manual and the Audi official one is a fortune. DB
peterb
It's held in there by four spring clips. These are released by use of the special keys inserted into the small slots above and below the columns of buttons on each side.
grahamb
There are various workshop manuals on ebay, for as little as 99pence. On CD....
Sven
There is a CD from Bentley though, alledgedly better than Haynes... Not sure if this helps any (Etka pic).
