has anyone had problems with their audi concert stereo system, mainly the cd player? i've now had a new head unit, new stacker and a complete check but still the damn thing continuly cuts out either when you floor it or the bass is high or even...for no b****y reason!

Anyone been there?

No problems with mine...apart from twice in 1.5 years it starts to play the cd but no sound can be heard. A simple turn it off turn it back on sorts that out! Mine is a 2002 model and I think its actually the Concert II???

I know this sounds stupid, but I presume its not just one cd it does it on? Are they recordable cd's or originals...not that mine has a problem with either. If they are recordables, perhaps try with original cd's?

Sorry can't be of much help.

Flippin CD Players are so unreliable..had to get the old one changed on the A3 as it just had a mind of its own, playing whatever CD it felt in the mood to play at random.. now the one in the S3 wont even play at all.. I've been told I need another CD Boot stack...that'll be £175+VAT Pls + Fitting costs...and no I dont play copies in em.. smashfreakB.gif

Used to do it on both my A3 and S3 at random times, but usually when booting it in the S3.

Couldn't work out what it was so just put up with it.

Sorry,

Ben

yes to all of the above!

S3Bangs- don't bother with a new stack, it will still do it as have already had new one.

Rich- new cds, recorded, doesn't matter and yes mine plays but no sound too!

ben- doesn't it piss you off?!

After 4 months of back and fourth to the garage i might get off my arse and take it to audi. will let you know if i have any joy.

cheers all.

I've been having the same sort of problems with my S3. I suppose the problem could be that the changer lead is shorting somewhere maybe ? The other problem of course is that the CD changer is sitting on top of the sub so if the volume is too loud it is likely to vibrate.

My latest plan is to change things slightly. You can now buy adaptor leads which allow you to plug in specific manufacturers CD changes, I've seen leads for Sony, Kenwood, Alpine and Panasonic, though they're not cheap, but the price of one of these changers plus a lead is about what Audi charge. The nice thing is that Sony do an MP3 CD changer so what I'm planning on doing for £230 + postage is to get a 6 disk MP3 Changer and the adaptor lead and see how that goes.

The plus side is that the Sony changer works with CDRs and allows you stick up to 99 tracks on a CD using MP3s which expands the range of music I can keep in the car somewhat. There is also a chance that there might be an Alpine MP3 changer which will work with one of these adaptors, I'm trying to find out at the moment, though the changer costs a bit more than the Sony but they have the best pickups in the car industry.

Cheers,

Chris.

hmm, reading these posts I seem to be one of the lucky ones. As I said mine has only started playing but delivered no sound twice sinice I bought in..thats about 1.5 years. To be honest though I use the head unit cd most of the time rather than the changer, but then the 2 problems I did have were both using the front cd anyhow.
