AudiNick
Hi I need a second key for our A4 turbo diesel. It is a 'switchblade' type, at least I think that is what it is called. Where can I get one from? I didn't quite believe the figure my local Audi dealer quoted!!
Ari
I have heard of these being advertised on ebay, don't know how you go about getting it cut to fit your lock though, not to mention the immobilisor and the "plipper" code. Other suggestion thats been mentioned is that apparently the Seat and VW keys are identical all bar the logo, and may be quite a bit cheaper. Try a search on "Audi chat" and "technical" forums as well, I'm sure theres been posts about this before. Good luck By the way, what were Audi quoting for a new key? 18ME
How much have you been quoted Nick? I would have thought no more than about £60 if you have the master key. I remember a mate years ago looked at buying a Fiat van and was quoted something like £800 for a new master as they would have had to change the main module thingy majig. mfdaustrey
I only had 1 key for my used A6, when the blade fell out. I was worried about losing it and was horrified at a total of about £225 (inc. coding, vat etc.) quoted. My local locksmith supplied me with a cut key (HU66AT6) for £20 but did not have the machine to code the transponder. Any ideas of somewhere in the Coventry/Tamowrth area to code this, or will I need an Audi garage. They really are pricing themselves out of the market. My A6 is costing me less than any previous, muck smaller car, being serviced at my local garage.)
audiavant24
Same boat mate and I wasn't going to pay £120+ told dealer that and he came back with another offer saying 72 squid for a fixed key coding etc included so I plumped for one of those, it works fine but I still feel a bit ripped off..
