cruiser647
How many miles has the car got? Have you replaced your MAF (air flow meter) with a proper Bosch job (£55 on exchange). OR cleaned it with carb cleaner and cotton buds. Be careful, as it is fragile. Use some injector cleaner too. (Millers Diesel+) Have you had it remapped or any engine mods performed? hydraulicmoments
130k on the clock, not tried cleaning the MAF but will give it a try also tried injector clean would you agree the thought of all 4 injectors going down at the same time is a bit unlikely!! thanks for responding. TIDYDUBS
Id be looking at your camshaft and your hydraulic tappets my friend.Even 130 PD's do suffer as well as the 150 PD ARL engine code which are more common. Easy enough check with the cover off. It will give the kind of issue you are experiencing and fault codes. Camshaft complete kits from ooop north which are steel type cams not the crap cast sh1te. for 300 sobs you get cam seal, bearings, camshaft new tappets/lifters. PM me if your stuck. hydraulicmoments
hi i have plugged it into a snap-on solus!! also have taken it to a diagnostic specialist and they said the same as the solus all 4 injectors exceeding limmit. iv now cleaned the maf to no success !! its also getting harder to start only if left for two days first start up takes about 4 seconds of cranking! iv had the rocker off when i changed the adjustable rocker balls and pins on the injector tops, i heard a rumour that the cam shaft cam wear quickly with the wrong oil but don't believe it to have had the wrong oil suppose it could be 130k of wear!, when she starts from cold she taps for a couple of seconds until oil fills the hydraulic bucket lifters! i notice the rocker has a roller where it touches the cam so should this still mess up the fault codes? she is always flat now never seems to have any real go even with the asr light off how would i check the cam properly?? thanks again for helping
hydraulicmoments
thanks tidydubs can you let me have a link or address for these steel cams ooop north!!!! also whats your advice for checking the camshaft sizes, clearances etc???? thanks dude
TIDYDUBS
Hey there take it you have found said problem relating to camshaft and hydraulic tappets? The rockers for the injectors have to be set correctly......really important!!!!! as you have changed the grub screws, quite easy. The link for their web site is: VW diesel engine, Audi diesel engine, Skoda diesel engine & Seat diesel engine specialists or go on Ebay item number 190427506054 thats what you get for your money DONT go with the cheaper cast rubbish Measuring you should not have to do.....checking the cam, you can measure ( i have seen so many)but it should be really obvious. Wear on the lobes on the cam for the tappets/valves will be FOOKED more so the tappets. TRUST me on this if its running as bad as you say it is it will be pretty clear. Either way you will have to spec your engine etc before ordering.I have had no problems with them and have recommended a few others to them with no hassle. Their stuff is good quality OE spec stuff.Where else could you get a complete steel cam for a pd with tappets bearings and a cam seal for 300 sobs?? Good luck and best regards TIDY+++ Edited May 2, 2011 by TIDYDUBS
hydraulicmoments
hi yes i changed the grub screws and the socket pins and set according to auto data set cam to full travel tighten till a notable resistance is felt then back off 180 degrees easy but ran just the same as before!!! well i suppose a 300 for a cam kit is better than 500 each for new injectors that may not fix it!!! i really hope you are right haha!! thanks again.
