ant-porter
Hi there, I've got a standard golf mk4 tdi 90bhp, W reg. I was wondering if anyone could give me any advise on tuning mods? I want to make it quicker, hoping to get around 150bhp? cheers, Anthony
Tipex
So you want to get another 60bhp on a 90bhp engine! I'm sure it can be done, but you'll need deep pockets, Perhaps Shark can advise on a more readily attainable power figure with more simple mods, like an exhaust, filter and map? Mook
OK, so I presume this is the SDI engine - 90PS diesel? You wouldn't get that kind of power without swapping the turbo and getting it remapped. You could expect around a 15-20bhp gain with just a remap, but you'd have to find someone to do it for you - check Shark Performance's web site for info - this is the Mk4 Golf page Shark Performance - European Vehicle Tuning Also, once you've upped the power or done any other mods, even if it's just changing the rear lights or the wheels, make sure you tell your insurer, or you'll not be covered. Tipex
If it's an SDI engine, then it doesn't have a turbo! We had loads of MK1 Octavia SDI's, non turbo, very slow, but strangely had a throttle response an F1 car would have been proud of, shame about the chocolate gearbox though. Mook
Bloody hell - the last non turbo diesel I drove was a Land Rover!
