Korkster
Guys and gals quick question and help...friend is looking to buy a used Golf. MY 2009 and first registered as a VW UK car. Now it could quite easily have been a management car but I'm trying to figure out whether it could have been a press car? Any way to find out? Reason I'm thinking his is as it is a very well specced car. Adaptive chassis control, park assists, sat Nav etc etc. not something you find on many 1.4 TSIs Any help at all? Done the searching of net and YouTube and so far nothing....
Twinspark
I'd probably avoid it if it's a 1.4 TSI-160... they're a pretty fragile engine (Mine has just had a £5k rebuild under warranty).... if it was my money, there's absolutely no way I'd go near one. It's not that uncommon in terms of spec - mine has all that, bar navigation. Someone just had a chunk of cash left when speccing their company car and spent it on options in my case... then did 12k miles before handing it back! Korkster
Thanks Twinspark. It's the 122bhp one she's looking at. They specd lots but didn't spec the front foggies :-) What is the 'like iPod size device' that's on the dash? It looks like some sort of Bluetooth device BUT the functions for BT are also on the radio?
Twinspark
OK, that is an odd spec. for a lower power car - I assume it's a Match with lots of options, then? (With a spec. like that I was expecting it to be a 160bhp GT). No idea about the thing on the dash, not seen one of those - but you could be right about Bluetooth. The Bluetooth implementation in the radio is very poor and uses an obsolete protocol which won't work with modern smartphones - so lots of people have had to add an aftermarket Parrot kit or similar. Cuprabob
The device you're talking about is for Bluetooth, see link below for more details. Accessories : Owners : Volkswagen UK Up until very recently OEM BT solution was pants but thankfully they've now got their act together. BT in my Scirocco is pretty damn good
Twinspark
The old rSAP profile bluetooth is actually fantastic.... if you have an ancient Nokia handset. Fortunately, I still use a Nokia 6230i for business, so have no issues with it in the car. It is a pain that it won't hook up with my (personal) iPhone, though. Tipex
There are many reasons it could have been registered to VW UK, it could have been a press car, a demonstrator (my galaxy was registered to Ford UK as it was a demonstrator at the Ford UK demonstrator centre for the first couple of hundred miles of it's life), a staff company car, or it could simply have been pre-registered before it was sold to boost sales figures. Either way, I wouldn't worry about it, so long as everything seems ok with it, it shouldn't be a problem.
Korkster
Thanks for input guys...The Bluetooth touch adapter is exactly what is on the dash. Fingers crossed it was just a staff management car as overall package is pretty good. It'll have 12 month warranty so all being well it'll be fine
jimdiesel
Ben (Shark) fitted the skoda non rSAP module to Mrs Diesels Golf and it works brilliantly with full intergration with the DIS and MFSW.
