Cuprabob
I wonder how the market will receive such a relatively small engine capacity in a large car Ford fits 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine to the next Mondeo - Motoring News - Motoring - The Independent
cruiser647
They could shorten the bonnet and give it more internal room for the same dimensions - even though the engine is a sideways fitment? Has anybody here driven the fecus with the same engine? Edited September 6, 2012 by cruiser647
Twinspark
Well, the 1.6 TDCI / HDI found its way into both the Mondeo and the Volvo S80.... and that has less power, so it may work OK-ish. I can see that engine appearing as a company car option for me - the current default choice is the Focus 1.6TDCI, but if the Ecoboost is perceived to be 'greener', it wouldn't surprise me if we swapped over to those. Of course, I'm playing the cripple card and taking a decent auto from the pool, so it won't really affect me anyway
patently
Most people don't know or care what the engine size is, and they are by and large Ford's main market. This car will move forward and backwards, will go round corners if asked, will fit a huge amount of stuff in it, and will have good fuel economy and emissions. It'll sell like hot cakes. DanG
A friend has driven one and says its a cracking motor. That said, they claim they are a 'motoring and lifestyle journalist', so probably know feck all about cars.

eldavo69
It'll sell like hot cakes. How do you let someone know that your hot cakes are selling well?
Booster
Ford have an uncanny knack of bringing out a new Mondeo that looks really cutting edge at launch and yet looks incredibly dated within a few months. Seems to happen to every generation. To my eyes anyway.
CarMad
I think they often end up looking like an old tatty mess but I know what you mean, I think you get sick of seeing them. Mind you can say the same for others though so you have a point.
DanG
Replace the Ford badge with an Aston Martin badge on the front, and you'd fool a few folk...
patently
How do you let someone know that your hot cakes are selling well? You tell them it's selling like a Mondeo 1.0l Ecoboost, of course I think they often end up looking like an old tatty mess Agreed. It's because so many are bought as white-goods items, by people who wash them about as often as they wash their tumble dryer.
cruiser647
Replace the Ford badge with an Aston Martin badge on the front, and you'd fool a few folk... Looks like it fooled our own News Stig.......... http://www.tyresmoke.net/forum/tsn-motor-news/137520-1-0-litre-mondeo.html Agree on the Mondeos looking tatty after a short while. The Insignia still looks quite fresh by comparison. Only 83,000 sold in Western Europe last year? A bit poor?
