eldavo69
Typical sewer rat Terry, blames the FA for making his position "untenable" and retires from international football the day before his FA hearing. Good riddance.
Arch
We had two gophers at the theme park I worked at called John & Terry. Oh the amusement when you asked them both to do something together.....

Booster
John Terry has announced his retirement from international football to concentrate on his work for the BNP.
m4ttm4son
It has nothing to do with the level of football he's playing then?
Waylander
The way this is being reported is getting on my wick as well: -it was a year ago; why are the FA still pursuing it -he has been cleared in a court of law Errm it was deferred at his and his club's request so while it was alleged he was a racist he could still represent his country internationally. The court simply was unable to prove that he didn't use the racists terms it was clearly established he DID say in whatever dubious defence his Counsel presented to the Court. Hence in a civil situation you could argue there is need for today as the case against him has already been proven. The date of the hearing was set a few weeks ago so of course announcing this the night before was not at all intended to cause undue influence on the hearings and the predictable public debate as above "He's already been proven innocent" etc etc.
NewNiceMrMe
None of that bothers me as long as John Terry doesn't wear an England shirt again. Whatever happened, he's gone - and that, to me at least, is a good thing.
garcon magnifique
He was found innocent of a specific offence in a court of law. The FA have every right to continue to pursue an enquiry into whether he committed a more general offence, and are not bound by the same burden of proof. With the timing and content of his announcement, Terry may as well have said,"I'm retiring from international football because I couldn't be more guilty if you'd found me in your bedroom, wearing your dressing gown, wiping my dick on your curtains." NewNiceMrMe
Found guilty by the FA. Banned for 4 matches. Fined £220,000.
Waylander
Aye. As opposed to 8 matches for the same offence for Suarez.....
garcon magnifique
He's clearly only half as racist as Suarez. Or the FA are racist. Presumably the £220k covers their lunches this week. Pathetic result.
Calm Chris
He is a racist, the shame being that as a England captain he was 100% committed. That isn't a forgiveness or a distraction from his fall from grace, but surely even the most negative of feeling for John Terry the person can't distract from the fact that in his day, at the time, he was the best captain for England? garcon magnifique
I never particularly rated him as a footballer. He was one of those "leaders" that English clubs and fans love so much. Can't kick a ball but willing to put his body on the line for the cause. For those who seem to think he's good enough, one of the sad things in all this is that his international career is over at 31 - very young for a centre half. Ultimately though, for once the truth has won out. Everybody with a little inside knowledge in the game absolutely knows what a despicable piece of scum Terry is. Too often people like him get away with it.
m4ttm4son
He was a pretty good English-style centre back, but was never as good as Tony Adams. Should have been, but maybe he picked the wrong vices This is about as right a verdict as you could get. They would never prove that he said what he did in anger, so just that he said it is enough. Any idea when the ban takes effect if he doesn't bother to appeal?
Andy_Bangle
I hope he appeals it, only to prove what a farce the FA is.

Andy_Bangle
FA publish written reasons for independent panel's John Terry verdict: http://www.thefa.com/News/governance/2012/oct/~/media/22A83175745E44468105B57232F085B7.ashx Some great lines in it, reminds me of being 13 years old in the playground: Mr. Terry then proceeded to run back towards the Chelsea half in order to take up a defensive position and await the free kick. For a time, he had his back to Mr. Ferdinand. Mr. Ferdinand started to move up the pitch in the direction of the half-way line and shouted out at Mr Terry, "how can you call me a ****, you shagged your team mate's missus, you're the ****." Mr. Ferdinand also made a slow fist pump gesture with his right hand, suggesting sex (a reference accompanying what he said). Once he was back in the Chelsea half of the pitch, Mr. Terry turned round to face the play and saw the fist gesture that Mr. Ferdinand was making, and which was clearly directed at him.
