DanG
Going against every fibre of my being, I like this, a lot. It's a good ad, with a Tron like theme tune and only a concept car - but the finished product looks and sounds lovely. If this were a Nissan we would have all been talking about it for weeks.... Andy_Bangle
Peugeot always do great concept cars, it's in the production of them where things go wrong. (ie: they never make it). There's been several Peugeot concepts threads.
Cuprabob
Now we have an Aldi R8 to go with the Aldi TT It is pretty cool though
NewNiceMrMe
I don't get the criticism of the Peugeot "TT". It's a lot better looking than the bland piece of shite that is the Audi TT!

NewNiceMrMe
Yes, I would hope I don't have to say "in my opinion" all the time though.
Twinspark
I always liked the 407 Coupe. Give me a V6 TTDI with auto box in GT trim with the leather dash - metallic black paint with dark red leather. Saw a 508 in the gym car park earlier - they look very decent, too. eldavo69
One of the Dads at school drives a 407 coupé. He hardly ever gets out of it, normally his wife gets out and walks their daughter into the playground. I can only assume that this is because he absolutely loves the car. Well, either that or because he's a 6ft tranny.
Cuprabob
More likely the drivers' door handle has fell off and he can't get out
Tipex
Peugeots are nailed together pretty well these days to be honest. I actually quite like the RCZ too, the problem is, it's all show and no go, it's only available as a 1.6 I think?
NewNiceMrMe
Yes they're meagrely powered, without a doubt. However, I don't think they're trying to be a performance car - just a good looking Coupe. I think they've done that.
Torino101
Will be staggered if Pug produce anything vaguely resembling the Oynx. But feck me it's bloody gorgeous!

eldavo69
Isn't it the Mini Cooper S engine or similar?
Andy_Bangle
Near enough the same, all from the same BMW-PSA 1.6-litre Turbo 'prince' engine project.
Cuprabob
Have they not just launched a RCZ with circa. 250bhp?
Andy_Bangle
That was a concept car running the same 1.6-litre THP engine with 260bhp, due next year?
theduisbergkid
I just love the Aldi joke Ta. It really did the rounds too, in PPC Mag, then Gareth Jones on Speed, and all over the 'net. I got an email from someone at the RCZ owners club tellibng me to "f*ck off and die". but... Peugeot are deep in the doo. They've been squeezed at the bottom end by Koreans offering better products with longer warranties for the 'family' market, and at the top end by reps getting into German stuff that is perceived as being better and/or wanting a 'better' badge on the drive. They are in the sh*t big time. Perhaps if they built some of this crazy stuff, and got properly creative, they'd win back some market share. I might not like their current line up, but I wouldn't want them to go under. The 205 and 405 shows they once knew how to get it just right. DanG
I might venture that foreign competitors just hadn't got their act together back then. Different market now I suppose. Even I like some of the Hyundai offerings...
Tipex
I don't think Peugeot have too much to worry about to be honest, the French government won't allow them to go under no matter what the cost.

Agreed but they are going to have to dig deep into their reserves to save them. Look at their share price for the last year: BBC NEWS | Business | Market Data | Share Prices | Paris Stock Exchange PAR | Peugeot UG Add in to the fact that around 20% of Pug dealers in the UK that are still badged as Pug dealers aren't actually Pug dealers (yes, really!) as they have lost their licence from Peugeot due to under-investment in showroom facilities. These dealers have to purchase cars from authentic dealers and work on reduced margins which compounds the problems they were facing and the reason why they hadn't updated their facilities.....!! What about the Citreon connection? They seem to be pumping out new DS models each week! See many on the roads With regard t Pug dealers - they really do look like knackered old sheds. Very 80's/90's. Small, not much stock or secondhand stock on the forecourt. Unlike the bigger names who have invested in new, bright and glassy buildings.
Tipex
Our Peugeot garage must be in the minority then, it's pretty big, loads of cars, recently refurbished, think it's owned by KAP now, was previously Becks.
DanG
They recently left the CAC 40, the French equivalent of the FTSE 100 and they are now worth about €2bn. Which isn't very much. Even the government and French Unions allowed the closure of a large factory recently as they can see the issues. I would expect it to be merged with another French manufacturer soon when the French government tells the anti competition regulator to STFU and allow it regardless of the rules.
