Sponge
My dad has gone to Virgin Media and consequently has his Amstrad Sky HD+ box 250gb and router for sale. I think the battery compartment lid has lost it's sheen. It looks like it's peeled off. But other than that, it's in full working order. £40 delivered. More images in album. chody
call sky and tell them you want to cancel and cant afford the service call charge and insist on cancelling , they will book a service call and give you a replacement box rather than let you go, I used to work for them it works every time just lay it on been laid off the kids will kill me but just havent got the money, also always loads on gumtree from about £20 upwards and local to go pick up if you need it in a hurry, then its just a call to sky to have them pair the card to the new box
shao_khan
Tried that - sky aren't interested, they want to charge me for a new box. I don't have many options here either with broadband stuck at about 2mb and no other service offerings for TV in the area - other than freeview. Luke
I needed a new sky+ box recently after mine died. They did me quite a good deal on the 2TB one, which had I realised just how big its memory was I'd have bought one ages ago. They knocked off some money on my monthly fee to allow for the discount. Seeing how much I use it, if they last 2 years its good going.
CarMad
S_K I threatened to leave and they did the same to me sorry won't do anything. Until that is I said thats it had enough cancel the lot and they couldn't do enough to get me back, I've moved to Virgin and have had a better experience overall anyway but regardless it did work as mentioned but I had to follow through with it before they woke up. In the end I had 4 or 5 begging calls and even someone else asking why have I left and why don't I want to come back. My feedback was stop being so silly about the serving of the box and you would have got my £700 a year, instead of me leaving for a churlish £60 for not giving me a new box as my original one was fecked. Virgin own the box really and if it goes wrong they come out and sort it no problem so a far better approach than sky IMO, they aren't great for everything though but thats another thread. Sponge
Sorry for not replying sooner. I didn't notice there had been a reply and don't check all the forums regularly. But glad you're now sorted. But yes, these are still available. If anyone is interested can you please PM as well as post in the thread. At least then I'll get a pop-up letting me know there's interest.
