Mook
That's it then. Bye bye Subaru in the UK before long. Sadly I reckon the lack of sales and appalling Yen/£ exchange rate has done for it Subaru Impreza WRX STI leaves UK news and pictures | evo
jimdiesel
And they lost their most loyal customer this year.
garcon magnifique
A sad day for the nostalgic. It has gone from cult car to icon to relic in twenty years. When you consider what a vast improvement the 2009 car was over its predecessor, and how poorly even that stacks up against the alternatives - particularly in running costs - it was inevitable really. Not entirely sure what the future holds for Subaru. Its SUVs win all kinds of specialist publication awards but that doesn't seem to translate into sales. And compared to the Toyota GT86, the number of BRZs available is embarrassing.
m4ttm4son
It's got to be in the advertising, partly. TV ads for the GT86 are on every day, billboard posters, magazine reviews... I've seen nothing about the BRZ except here and brief mentions in said reviews. Why aren't they pushing them?
garcon magnifique
Who knows? Lack of ambition from Subaru? Lack of basic competence from Subaru UK? Subaru UK's order book for the BRZ is full, so they didn't need to advertise to sell the allocation they got. Which to me simply means that allocation was far too small. I wonder how many people have bought a GT86 because they couldn't find a BRZ?
cruiser647
That bug eyed model started the demise I think. That put people off. Meanwhile Mitsi's Evo went from strength to strength. Sometimes an evolving model line is best.
Soapsuds
Who knows? Lack of ambition from Subaru? Lack of basic competence from Subaru UK? No - they employ w****s like that c**k who used to work at the now long gone Monks Heath. Says it all......
garcon magnifique
Oi, I bought four cars off that "w****r". He just didn't like your face. As for the Mitsubishi Evo, I don't remember it going from strength to strength. In fact I remember it always being crap and impractical. Tipex
The WRX STi may be going, but tjat doesn't mean it wont be replaced. I suspect a faster version of the BRZ to trump Toyota among other things. I'm also not sure the Evo has done any better than the Impreza to be honest, both will be low volume sales, and despite having a Mitsu garage locally, and no Subaru garage anywhere near, I still see more Impreza's than Evo's. I suspect it's just the end of the line for the WRX, but they'll keep a small scale production for the Japanese market.
chasdrury
Subaru are working on a turbo engine to go in the brz, not in conjunction with Toyota apparently....

Never had any complaints before The Evo was a great car - well up to the 9. Simply stunning in fact. Wish i had bought one instead of the STI. garcon magnifique
I honestly thought the early Evos were the best, before the 6 used that horrible Carisma body. After the initial photochop images, the 10 was just a massive letdown. Successive versions of Evo and STi did change around a bit, but I always got the impression the Evo was the more extreme, with ridiculously short service intervals and a useless 160 mile range, while the STi managed to be more practical without actually being any slower. Mook
Never had any complaints before The Evo was a great car - well up to the 9. Simply stunning in fact. Wish i had bought one instead of the STI. The Evo X was/is the dullest transformation from one version to another. The auto-box version just has no feel, even when it's wound up to 350+ bhp. Yes, the car may look more civilised and be nicer inside than the 1980s Datsun look in the Evo 7, 8 and 9, but it's so far removed from the raw grunt of the earlier versions.
